The first appearance of the priority in the Adventure Comics series refers to 1961. Like many heroes of old comics, General ZD then was a flat and one-type character, a soldier sentenced to a link for an attempt to a military coup. He had only one distinctive feature - the ability to restore power under the influence of yellow sunlight.
Despite the memorable image, General ZD survived the first update of the DC Universe. The creators decided not to leave in the plot of other Cryptonians, except for the superhero, and for many 20 years the character was forgotten. He appeared only in 1988 as the inhabitant of the pocket universe. The most bright image is presented in the 444th edition of Adventures of Superman, where ZDA takes an attempt to destroy the Earth.
The main universe general finally returned in 2007, and the nature of the renewed hero was made up of its predecessors from individual features: this is a brave military, an ardent patriot, in relation to strangers gaining to xenophobia, obsessed with the idea of power and subordination. Batman Zod considers the traitor for his people, and his experiences on this occasion add the character of depth and plot value.
The creators finally came up with the villain clear motivation - he wants to conquer the land not from the "love of art", and then to create a new crypton from the planet. Given the ability of his compatriots to gain power under the light of the yellow sun, the Earth is really a good place for colonization. At the same time, ZD is not going to completely destroy local residents - some of them are planned to be left for work and experiments. In his insidious plans, the general constantly suffers a defeat from Superman, but not going to give up.
In the comic Return to Krypton, the hero has survived another "restart": the young man named Avruuiskin, whose parents were Soviet astronauts, entered into contact with Zode and received an instruction from him to seize power. The character took the same name as his patron, and before the superman intervention managed to conquer a couple of countries and even make the sun in red.

The hero knows about the early years. His full name is not mentioned anywhere. On Crypton, ZD was a military general, and the epidemic of the ICS virus was helped to "rise" to him, listed as an alien ship. When the disease began to capture one city after another, Zode was not confused and organized quarantine zones, which helped prevent the spread of the virus and gave time to search for medication. After the end of the epidemic, the general decided that he was able to lead a whole planet, and raised the uprising. The rebellion was suppressed, albeit an expensive price, and the instigators exiled to the phantom zone.Tens of old issues with the participation of the character are built on the same plot: the general with comrades runs from the zone and learns the riots, and Superman catches them and departs in place. The authors did not put the goal of making a full-fledged character and reveal his inner world, did not even indicate the reasons why he wants to hurt superman. General ZD in films
Cinematographers managed to create a charismatic image of an exclusive and ruthless general who dreams of restoring their homeland. The character filmography includes not so many films, but the images of the warlike crypton are very bright in them.
For the first time on the screen, the province appeared in 1978, and only the name and some details of the biography were associated with the book primary source. Pravoy, albeit a few caricature superslodes, sucking with sharp quotes, played actor Terrence Stump. Here, for the first time, the principal difference between him and Superman was indicated: Zod considers himself a higher creature, whose appointment - not to send, and command.
