Pärt was born on September 11, 1935 in the Estonian city of Pide. From the early years of the boy fascinated musical art - ARVo invented fascinating and subtle melodies.

In love for experiments, ARVo does not accept the philosophy of avant-garde music schools. From the mid-70s, the composer is formed a recognizable, unique style that gets the name "bells" - from small church bells that sound in a special tonality.
During creativity, the writer has repeatedly edited his own writings, made translating for other tools, changed the arrangements. Having accepted in the mature age of Orthodoxy, the composer regularly communicated and continues to communicate with the fathers of the Church, in particular with Archimandrite Sofronim.
