Azrail debuted in 1992 in four mini-series about Batman. The creators of the hero - Dennis Ja O'Neill, Joe Cesada and Peter Milligan - at first did not plan to introduce this character as a permanent one.
However, its popularity predetermined the further development of the storyline. The main difficulty with which artists and screenwriters faced is the need to transfer Azraul from a negative in a positive hero.
Subsequent series include episodes when Jean-Paul Valley takes on the identity of Batman. This is how Dennis O'Neill is recognized, it was associated with an increase in the popularity of the main defender of Gotam. Azrail, becoming part of the team together with Robin and Bathelel, showed itself on the other hand, which allowed "extending" his life in the Comic Universe.
The image and biography of Azraul
The background of the origin of azrael has not one century. It all started with the description of the life of a knight-Templar, who formed the Order of St. Dum. Mostly members of this group were engaged in robbery rich villages. Once they discovered the treasure belonging to the king Solomon.Such capital members of the Order used to study technologies aimed at achieving global superiority. Development of scientists led to the creation of a supersensile agent Azrail, whose name means "Angel of Death". The title was transferred by inheritance - from the Father to the Son. So, after a lot of centuries, the tried costume of the villain was also the Jean-Field.
Valley is a child who endured Gorilla. The son of the previous azraul was removed from the womb and placed in a special test tube. Scientists from the sects were introduced into the embryo of the DNA of animals, which became a prerequisite for the development of the embryo of superhuman abilities.
Until the moment of study at the University of Gotham, the teenager did not know about such an important fact from his biography. He learned the basics of programming with interest and heard a talented student. A rather peaceful character and charming appearance of a blond with blue eyes did not knit with the image of the angel of death.
True, revealed at that moment when his father, the previous Azrail, was mortally wounded by Lech. The man was able to try to the room of his son, trying to convey to the heir so that he was staying away from the Order of St. Duma.

The first opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge gained appeared when Superzlothelor Baine made Batman disabled, shifting him to him. The temporary incapacity of Bruce made Jean-Fields to wear a suit. At first, Valley caused Wayne's approval with his actions in the new role. However, the influence of the "system" made itself felt.
Over time, the azraul methods became cruel. He neglected detective investigations, turning all the attention to punitive methods. His indifference and rejection of established rules pushed the Allies of Batman, including Robin and James Gordon. Gradually, Valley stopped cooperating with the police.
Using the skills acquired during training from Nomosez, Jean-Paul has changed a BET suit to increase damage caused by him. So Azrael managed to kill Bain. A number of mistakes made, including the death of innocent people, forced Bruce Wayne to regain the Batman's mantle.
In Bat-cave, Bruce made Valley remove the ammunition, after which the meek and shy student returned. Understanding your mistakes, Jean-Paul decided to become azrail again to rehabilitate in Batman's eyes.
First of all, he went to the Order of St. Dum, destroying another azraul and most of the members of the group. The man tried to follow the instructions of Bruce, which helped him become a fighter with crime.
At the same time, he regularly helped the Batman team. But it did not save him from hallucinations caused by the "system". Beginning madness became the main problem of the Jean-Field. To solve it, he together with Dr. Leslie Tompkins opened the hospital.
After Walnly founded his own base in the former building, becoming a defender of the nearby city of Osavil. The death of Hero's fever in a fight with his main opponents - Biis and Spratch. It was able to kill him with the help of armor-piercing bullets. Azrail fell from the balcony, having touched Lechhah, the latter, however, managed to survive.
Interestingly, the body of the deceased Jean-field was not found, which gave the soil to think about his future fate. But the creators of the comic decided to introduce the new Azraul of the former police officer Michael Leni, who prepared the first torture order from the initial grouping.
The ability of azraul only at the beginning of the career was due to the wearing costume. Thanks to the "system" he was able to achieve inhuman level in manifestation of strength, speed and reflexes. So, for example, Valley easily raised objects in 5-8 tons. Valley's identity also identified talents in programming, which allowed him to approach the level of the oracle.
The mental contradictions of the character do not give a clear answer - angry he or kind. Bipolar disorder was established, but despite the influence of the "system" and the experiments carried out, the Jean-field managed to restrain himself, pushing out the personality of the programmer's graduate student.
The character was not popularized in the cartoons and films of the Universe DC Comics. However, his followers - Michael Lanya and Teo Galavan - were spotted in the game "Batman: Arkhem Knight", as well as in the American TV series "Gotham".
