Alexander Volkov appeared on October 24, 1988 in Moscow. The family of the boy was athletic: the father was fond of academic rowing, mother before marriage was engaged in game sports. Therefore, it is not surprising that Sasha himself grew an active child.
When a set in a karate section was announced at his school, the boy hurried to sign up for classes where he achieved good results. But once a mother came to the training session, which was horrified by the fact that her son "beating" the guys are much older. Therefore, she with a scandal took Sasha during the battle, and 2 months the teenager was ashamed to go back. To catch up with the missed, it took years.
Despite the fascity of sports, the wolves did not forget about study. He studied in a physico-mathematical lyceum and was the winner of numerous Olympiads. Therefore, when it came to choosing a university, the young man filed documents to the University of Nikolai Bauman.
Alexander was afraid that because of his studies he would have to spread with sports, but the Karate section was working on the basis of the institution. In parallel, the guy attended a boxing workout. All this allowed to become a member of the Russian team Red Devil.

After joining RED Devil, Alexander began a professional career in mixed martial arts. His first fight according to the rules of MMA passed within the second round M-1 Challenge: 2009 Selections in St. Petersburg. The guy managed to send to Nocauta Nikolai Pleshakov and become the winner.
He continued to participate in the competition and managed to reach the Finals of the Russian Command Championship, where Ibrahim Magomedova defeated the unanimous decision of the judges. In 2012, Alexander signed a contract with American Bellator, representing the best MMA fighters. During cooperation with the promotion, the guy won the title of a champion in a heavyweight weight, which, however, has lost after the next fight with Russian Vitaly Minakov.
However, the defeats did not prevent the Volkov to get a contract with the UFC, to which he joined in 2016. Alexander managed to celebrate the spectacular victories over Roy Nelson, Stefan Struve and Fabriu Werdy, but lost to Derrik Lewis, who in the last seconds of the battle sent him to knockout.
This defeat shake out the emotional state of Volkova, who was sure that he was in excellent shape and won. After that, he began to have health problems, because of which a man returned to competitions only in a year. His appearance in the ring became a triumphal and ended with the victory over the American Greg Hardy.

The man was at the cottage, where he was engaged in a cross and did power exercises, but could not find sparring partners.The victory could help the athlete approach the title fight, but in the end he lost to the decision of the judges. Later, the coach stated that the man was not enough for a few seconds to win, because the opponent was already exhausted and began to skip blows.
Russian viewers are dissatisfied with the behavior of Volkov in the first rounds, during which he mainly defended and almost never tried to attack. They advised Alexander to switch to basketball or get away from sports.
