The future prose was born on December 11, 1864 in the capital of the French province of Normandy - the city of Ruang. Maurice was a second child in the family of shipowner Emil Leblan and his wife Matilda Blanche. The boy grew surrounded by two sisters, the youngest of which, Georges Leblan, matured, became an opera singer and the life of the author's "blue bird" of Maurice Materlinka.
With the beginning of the Franco-Prussian war in 1870, Emil and Matilda sent a sole son in Scotland, whose landscapes were forever remained in the memory of the impressionable Leblana.
