He is one of the elected Russians who influenced the fate of world ballet. His emigration has become an acquisition for the USA - they started talking about the fact that now the country can rightly be called a ballet power of the world. Fans called him just Misha, and critics stated that the ladies were the only Russian in the United States with one hundred percent recognition.

Childhood and youth

Baryshnikov was born on January 27, 1948 in Riga. The family moved to Latvia, where Father Mikhail, the Soviet officer, sent a service. The eldest ladies were a hard man with a steep temper. Relations with his wife and son he had difficult. Misha's mother, on the contrary, tried to crush the son of the love of art, went to the theater with him, Philharmonic.

The boy was very tied to his mother. When he was 10 years old, the ladies had already identified his own biography - she said that he wanted to engage in a ballet school and already signed up for the exam. Mikhail Baryshnikov dreamed of soloing on stage, but his little height was a problem.

Somehow the teacher Helena Tangiyev said the student that he needed to grow. Every day, the ladies carried out the most complex exercises, overcome pain in the joints, and grew almost 4 cm. Today, the growth of the dancer is 168 cm at a weight of 65 kg.

At the age of 12, the mother took Misha to her grandmother on the Volga, and herself returned to Riga. There she committed suicide. The reason for suicide has remained a mystery. Son one time lived with his father, but he soon married the second time, the Misha was not found in the new family.

A few years later, the ladies moved to Leningrad, since that time he did not communicate with his father. In 1964, the Latvian National Opera was on tour in Leningrad. In some performances, Mikhail Baryshnikov was busy.

One of the artists led him to the Leningrad School of Choreography.
