Biography

This rock band broke all the records of glory in the Soviet Union. Their songs sang under the guitar, the kilometers of the film were spent on rewriting cassettes. "This music will be eternal," the author of the words of the majority of the compositions of the group "Nautilus Pompilius" as the water looked, for the fans of "Nau" so it is.

The history of creation and composition

The official name of the team created on November 10, 1982 by students of the Sverdlovsk architectural Institute, - Nautilus Pompilius.

The first composition of the Nautilus Pompilius group in 1984

At first, the group wore the name "Ali Baba and forty robbers", in 1983, at the suggestion of sound engineer Andrei Makarov, became Nautilus, and in 1985, so that she was not confused with the group Yevgeny Margulis with the same name, found the name "Nautilus Pompilius" With the light hand of Kormiltsheva. When making musical products, we used to write the name with capital letters, or Cyrillic or Latin.

Vyacheslav Butusov

In 1983, Vyacheslav Butusov (vocals), Dmitry Skotsky (bass guitar), Andrei Sadnov (guitar) and Alexander Zarubin (drums) - the first composition of "NAU" - presented to the listeners the album "Moving". Then the guys played hard rock, and in creativity clearly sounded the influence of "LED Zeppelin". Part of the songs "Moving" is written on the poems of the Hungarian authors Endre Adi and Lierinz Sabo. Just buds when I went to Chelyabinsk, I found a collection of poems at the bus stop, which I liked him with mysticism.

Music

In the mid-1980s, starting from the album "Invisible", the genre changed. Now it was a new wave, to which Nautilus came after a close acquaintance with the music of Leningrad residents - "Cinema" and "Aquarium". People who disassembled in music will determine the features in the works of "NAU", inherent in these trends, as an alternative rock, postpank, gothic, art, globe and even Fokl Rock.

Vyacheslav Butusov in 1987

In 1986, with the advent of the album "Glutch", Nautilus Pompilius covered the first wave of glory. Military shape, repainted in black, make-up maiz, discreet, but not less bright plastic - as the team looked, clearly visible on concert photos and video.

In 1987, Nautilus, speaking at the plenum of the Union of Composers of the RSFSR and at the Rock Festival in Novosibirsk, showed that Sverdlovsky rock is not worse than Leningrad. Urals deserved the right to stand on one level with Alice, Aquarium, "Cinema" and proved this in the same year at Vilnius, Podolskaya and Moscow Rock scenes.

In 1986-1988, the group used a saxophone, and this melodiousness brought the team to pop music, and therefore was critical to the audience. A great role in the rise of "NAU" was played by professional, topical texts of Ilya Kormiltsev, which he wrote for the group from 1986 to 1997, and, of course, the unique charisma of the frontman of the Budusov group. Journalist Sergey Lomakin recalled that the program "Look" was promoted to Russian ROCK, in particular to his civil position.

The 1988th - Peak of Glory "Nautilus", the year of active touring both in the USSR and abroad (and specifically - in Finland, after the Finns removed the ribbon about the Soviet rock "Sickle and Guitar"). At the same time, the "Melody" record "Prince Silence" was published on the sound recordings: Early hits, such as the "last letter" or "Kazanova", and new works, for example, "I want to be with you."

Permanent tour, gradually emerging domestic show-business, next to which had to exist, commercial success spawned problems and quarrels in the group. The composition varied repeatedly until the team left the Skotsky. Vyacheslav Butusov, tired of attempts to combine "Nau" and show business, at the end of the autumn of 1988 dissolved the team.

In 1989, Butusov with Skutsky resumed relations and even created a new album - "man without behalf." But the differences did not go anywhere, and the short-term reunion ended with the final gap. The album appeared on the shelves of music stores only in 1995.

Interesting fact: Butusov, Kormaltsev and the Skomsky in 1989, awarded the Leninsky Komsomol Prize. The breadwinners did not receive a premium for ideological reasons. Butuses transferred money to the world and in the Sverdlovsk orphanage. And the Skotsky received a premium, coming to the presentation.

In 1990, Nautilus was revived in the new Ipostasi: a melodic saxophone was replaced by a tough guitar game and complex rhythms. "Nau" became unrecognizable, since only the texts of Kormiltshev and Voice of Butusov remained unchanged in it. But the words have changed: instead of the acute "socialist", philosophical and even religious motives sounded. For example, the song "Walking through the water", which has become a hit, tells about Andrei's apostle and his teacher, however, differing from the canonical biblical history.

In 1990-1992, "Naugad" albums were released, "Born this night" and "Alien Earth", and in 1993 - "Report 1983-1993", the first tribute in the history of Russian rock dedicated to the 10-year anniversary " "

In the same year, the team began to frighten the quarrels again, the guitarists Egor Belkin and Alexander Belyaev were left. To record the album "Titanic" in 1994, Nautilus helped one of the founders of the group "Agata Christie" Vadim Samoilov. "Titanic" is the most successful album "NAU" in terms of commerce.

The plate "Wings" critics tend to consider unsuccessful, and the musicians themselves recognized that she was created with difficulty. Nevertheless, the "Wings" composition blew up charts after the release of the film Alexander Balabanova "Brother".

The entire ribbon soundtrack consists of "Nau" songs, and the film itself begins with a demonstration of how the clip "Wings" was shot. In 1996, "Nau" tried acoustic sound and played several concerts, which gave a new life with old songs.

In the discography "Nautilus" many compositions became legendary. The same "Tutankhamon" from "Titanic" sounded, perhaps, from each stall in the 1990s and loved fans so far. Butusov said that the composition "Tutankhamon" was meant as a ballad, but he accelerated it.

The original acoustic version of the work sounds in the "Titanic on the Fontanka". This album was written with the help of the "Aquarium" musicians a year earlier than the main "Titanic" in which the accelerated option sounds.

The filtering strokes of the biography of Nautilus Pompilius became the plates "Applock" and "Atlantis". Boris Grebenshchikov and Bor Nelson, who produced the album, participated in the "Applodine" record. And the name "Atlantis" received a collection of compositions, for some reason not included in other albums.

Butosus, this year decided that the framework of Nautilus was closely, and dissolved the group. Concert "Last Sailing" and a farewell touring tour in 1997 put a point in the history of the group.

In 2003 and 2004, Nautilus reunited for a short time to participate in rock festivals. In 2013, Butusov with the group "Yu-Peter" held a series of concerts "Nau - 30 years under water." In Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, the audience was waiting for a surprise - exit to the scene of one of the compositions of the group. So, in Moscow, Egor Belkin played with Butusov, Albert Potapkin, Goga Kopylov and Alexander Belyaev, who was joined by Nastya Polev.
