William Ford Gibson was born on March 17, 1948 in the coastal city of Conway, South Carolina. Most of the early period of the writer's biography was held in Whyville, Virginia.

Books
The early works of Gibson, for example, the story "Shards of Holographic Rose" (1977), are stories about the influence of cybernetics on human race. Themes developed in the stories "Johnny-Mnemonic" (1981) and "burning chrome" (1982), formed the basis of the debut novel "Neuromant".

In 2014, the science fiction released the Roman "Peripheral Devices", the story unfolds in two epochs - 30 years after modernity and in the distant future. Its continuation, which has already received the name "Agency" must be released on April 2, 2019.
William Gibson is known not only as a writer, but also as a screenwriter. His first work is a script for a fantastic film "Alien 3" (1992), few elements of which are preserved in the final version.
Previously, Gibson's participation in the film industry came far beyond the Hollywood blockbuster system. In the late 1980s, the fiction officer collaborated with the Kazakh director Rashid Nugmanov over the Soviet-American film "Citadel of Death".
