Later another version of the same song will be recorded. The difference in pace and tonality - in the first case, That'll Be The Day was recorded slower and on the halfone above. Despite the fact that the musicians themselves made a bet on this song, the recording studio chooses the first singles of Blue Days, Black Nights and Modern Don Juan. On the listeners this choice does not make any impression.
Studio Decca Records declares Buddy Holly that the contract will not extend with him. Another trouble for the performer was the condition that he has no right to record the same songs for 5 years.
The manager Norma Petty is beginning to engage in Baddi Holly. He is looking for exits from the situation and works with other musical recording companies. Soon The Crickets signs a contract with BRUNSWICK RECORDS label, and Holly himself as a single artist - with Coral Records. Both firms are subsidiaries of Decca Records.
There is an interesting situation in which Buddy Holly has two contracts signed at once. To avoid legal proceedings with DECCA, it is decided to release the song That'll Be The Day under the "brand" of The Crickets. The single becomes a hit and takes off on the first line of the British Chart, where it is for 3 weeks. Given this circumstance, the Decca leadership decides to close the eyes on what is happening.
By the way, along with the producer of National Natini, the artist composes and records the composition of Everyday, which will later enter the number "500 of the greatest songs of all time according to the Rolling Stone magazine."
