Biography

The history of the creation of The Cure began back in 1976. For dozens of years, the composition of the rock band has repeatedly changed. The only permanent participant remains vocalist, guitarist and the author of the majority of the songs The Cure Robert Smith. The style in which the music of the British is written, also not changed: in their songs, New Vave is mixed with Gothic rock and postpan.

The history of creation and composition

Attok The Cure stood Robert Smith (Piano), Michael Dempsey (Guitar), Lol Tolcherst (drums), Mark Sekkano (Solo-Guitar) and Alan Hill (bass guitar). The guys studied together in the English city of Krbol. In April 1973, they debuted under Obelisk, playing once on the school show of talents.

In January 1976, sekkano created a new group in which Smith and Dempsey invited, as well as two school friends. They called themselves Malice (from the English. "Evil"), sang songs David Bowie, Jimmy Hendrque and Alex Harvey in the walls of the local church.

In the early stages, The Cure was hardly changed monthly composition and name. In January 1977, the musicians began to be called Easy Cure (from English. Music

The debut album "Three Imaginary Boys" (1979) became disappointment for the trio - The Cure was waiting for loud success, but he did not come. But Seventeen Seconds (1980), more gloomy and sullen compared to the "primient", took the 20th place in British charts and made the Cure famous.

"Suicide Music" - so called "Seventeen Seconds" one of the participants of The Cure Matthew Hartley - found a continuation in the 3rd and 4th albums, "Faith" (1981) and "Pornography" (1982). Psychedelic and a gloomy atmosphere, reigning in the tracks, made the credit legislators of Gothic Rock in the UK.

In 1982, The Cure turned into a duet. Smith's forces and Tolchersta lacked for full-fledged albums, so the musicians continued to develop in third-party projects - Smith gave concerts as part of the Siouxsie groups and The Banshees, and Tolcherst produced British beginners and Also The Trees. Over time, the guys adapted to each other and released "The Top" (1984). This psychedelic album came to the top 10 of the United Kingdom and made his debut in the Billboard 200 in the 180th place.

Return to The Cure bass guitarist Simon Gallpa greatly facilitated the life of Smith and Tolchurst, because during the recording "The TOP" Smith played immediately on all tools, except for shock and saxophone. The trio released "Head On The Door" (1985), which tied the optimistic and pessimistic aspects of The Cure music. The album fell on the 7th place in the UK, the 59th in the USA. Slowly, but steadily the group climbed to world success.

The "Disintegration" released in 1989 became the most successful album in the Cure discography, reaching the 3rd place in the UK, the 12th in the United States. After 3 years, the disc was separated by the world over 3 million copies. A little less, but a significant popularity was achieved "Wish" (1992). But the output "Wild Mood Swings" (1996) marked the end of the commercial peak The Cure.

Singing fast decay, Smith decided to create a serious album. The resulting "Bloodflowers" (2000) was even nominated at Grammy. According to the frontman, it is a trilogy with "Pornography" and "Disintegration". Songs from these albums were included in the Dream Tour program. According to official estimates, for 9 months, the Cure tour saw more than 1 million people. The best frames with concerts entered the "The Cure: Trilogy" (2003) along with the clips on the group's hits.

Continuing to prepare for the worst, The Cure released the set "Join The Dots: B-Sides & Rarities, 1978-2001", which included 70 previously not released songs and a 76-page book with photos, quotes and stories about the group. The audio climb of this set was awarded the 106th place in Billboard 200.

The Cure Now

In the summer of 2019, Rockers gave 23 concerts in honor of the 30th anniversary of Distintegration. The program was rare or previously not executed songs from the album. The last show in Sydney was broadcast on YouTube. In the appeal to the crowd Smith hinted on the rapid release of the record.

The Cure did not release albums since 2008 (the latter was "4:13 Dream"). In an interview with Rolling Stone Smith confirmed that the group writes a new material. Their "house" was the studio in which Queen created "Bohemian Rhapsody".

"The songs last for 10-12 minutes, all of them 19. I have no idea what to do. I have been told to write down the triple album, but I, most likely, choose 6-8 songs and make one disk. I think that the new material will delight our hardcore fans, "said Smith then.
