The history of the creation of Pixies originates since 1986 in Boston, USA. The group originated on the initiative of Vocalist Charles Thompson, who later became known under the pseudonym Black Francis. He suggested a neighbor on the hostel room - the keyboard player Joey Santiago to write music together.
Then they gave an advertisement about finding a bass guitarist, which was responding to Kim Dil. She introduced guys with Drick David Loveraning, thanks to which the formation of the quartet was completed. The name of the future stars chose by chance, at random pointed into the dictionary.
Music
The first rehearsals took place in the David Loveraning garage. The team performed mainly in Boston bars, but in the fall of 1986 they were invited to heating the Throwing Muses. At the concert, the musicians attracted the attention of the producer Gary Smith, who offered them to release a demo. This brought a contract with a label of 4AD Records.The Debut Album of the Surfer Rosa quartet was recorded in just 3 weeks and came out in 1988. British editions of Sounds and Melody Maker have awarded a record of the title of the best in a year. In the US, the reaction was less turbulent. Soon after, the musicians began to cooperate with Elektra label and created the Doolittle album.
Thanks to the increase in budget and change the producer, the second record had a cleaner sound. The singles of Monkey Gone to Heaven and Here Comes Your Man, who later took clips later, won a special popularity.
To secure success, Pixies went to the tour, but during this period the participants understood that they were tired of working together. In particular, it concerned Kim Dil and Charles Thompson, the conflict between which the apogee reached, when the vocalist threw the guitar to the bass player. Therefore, the musicians announced a break.
Over the next year, Black Francis acted as a solo artist. Dil united with Tanya Metelli and Josephine Wiggs to Estate the Three The Breeders. Other participants spent time on vacation.
In 1990, the musicians again gathered together to record the album Bossanova. The plate was distinguished by ease and smoothness of sound, which was associated with the hobby of the soloist with sirf rock. Songs have become hits among students.
Nevertheless, the atmosphere in the group continued to heat up. It reached a peak after the release of Trompe Le Monde. The album compositions are performed in the style close to the debut Surfer Rosa. In the track list, not a single song Kim Dil, which during the touring tour hinted fans about the upcoming care. In winter, the 1993 quartet collapsed.
For 10 years, performers worked separately. Charles Thompson changed the pseudonym to Frank Black and tried to act solo. Joe Santiago played a guitar for different projects. David Loveraning became illusionist and participated in the magic show. But, unlike Kim Dil, they have not achieved success.
In 2003, the musicians decided to remember the past and met on joint rehearsals. This led to reunion and tour, tickets to which were sold in a matter of minutes. Pixies performed at the coachella festival and received Act-Of-the-Year award.
The discography group was replenished only in 2014. During this time, changes occurred. The bass player Kim Dil, which was replaced by Kim Shtak, and then the groove of Lenshantin. Together with the new performer Pixies released Indie Cindy and Head Carrier.
