Character History

Harry Hole - the character of Romanov Yu Nesbo, working in the criminal police. The Romanov series made a Norwegian writer about him the most-selling author of detectives in the world. According to Nesbo, although his hero occupies an honorable place among well-known literary investigators on a par with Sherlock Holmes, Erkühul Poiro and Thomas Linley, a series of novels about him inherits not so much Conan Doyle, how much "Phantomas."

History of character creation

The surname of the hero dates back to the title of the Norwegian city and reads in two syllables like Hoh-Leh, which means "Round Hill". The book is mentioned that the Australian colleagues are name for Harry Gouley detective. According to the writer, he inspired his stories about Batman to create a hero. In addition, the strict police officer by the surname Holly scared his grandmother in childhood.

Biography Harry Hole

About the early biography of Harry knows a little. The Romar is mentioned by the date of his birth - 1965. The detective graduated from the police academy, where she showed quite medium successes, after which the course of investigation of serial killings in Chicago was held. The appearance of the hero of contradictory, like his personality: Harry is a high blond with a sharp feature of a person who can hardly be considered a handsome man, however, he invariably attracts women's attention.

The writer Ya Nesbo, being a soloist of the rock band, endowed the Holly with his musical preferences. The detective loves the sad swing of the 50s, as well as classic rock music like The White Stripes.

From the parents of the Hole there is only Father Wolve, with whom they do not get. Harry's mother died when he was 20. The detective has a sister of Ces, which suffers from Down syndrome, which at the same time persuades to lead relatively independent life.

There are no children from the Holle, but he swears his son's long-standing friend Oleg, as I solve his problems, including with drugs. As it usually happens in criminal novels, his relatives often become hostages of the profession of Harry, and his tender feelings for them target for criminals.

With all its intellectuality, the Hole is rather an antiger than the hero. He rebellion, stubborn, suffers from nervous disorder and outbreaks of anger, as well as heavy alcoholism. It seems that he retains the next bottle with something hot only to catch the next criminal, and after completing the case, it immediately pours herself to himself next portion. Harmful habits leave their trail on it - in the novel, it is mentioned that due to the abuse of alcohol with a red nose, dramatically distinguished against the background of pale leather. In the course of the narrative, the hero will also come back with scars on the neck, eyebrows and cheeks.

The only faithful friend Harry calls the whiskey "Jim Bim". He regularly cocks up in his favorite Bar "Schroeder", where criminal schemes for the next glass, not releasing a lit cigarette.

Harry skillfully catches maniacs, because he himself is not alien to manic aspirations, most importantly of which is to win as soon as possible and at any cost. The Hole is not used to thinking about the price of his actions, and by his shoulders of numerous misfortunes and death, to which he is involved indirectly and directly. By quotations from the novel, it can be understood that it perfectly understands the human nature and the psychology of criminals. To investigate cases, the Holle without thinking resorts to dirty methods, for which the colleagues-police officers are reproached.

In the novel "Thirst", Harry finally coats: described his long-term "tie", happy marriage on a long-time friend Raquel, a quiet joy of domestic life, a peaceful job as a teacher. But the desire to seek criminals from the chill looks like an instinct of hunting dog, which can be muffled for a while, but not forever. Unable to resist the next duel with the maniac, the detective again gets involved in the old game.

Harry Hole in books and films

The cycle of novels about the Hole consists of 12 books, the last of which came out in 2019. They are written in series, in compliance with the chronology of events. Multi-layer and extreme narratives about the detective alcoholic became popular with readers around the world, but in the last interviews Nesbo mentioned that he was tired of the character and is going to get rid of him. What kind of death he prepared for the chole, is still unknown.

In 2017, Thomas Alfredson's "Snowman" film was released, which was based on the plot of the same name. The main character, played by Michael Fassbender, appears out of the book description. The director did not even forced the actor to change the color of the hair. In addition, the picture added a new storyline: in the course of events it turns out that Oleg is not a reception, but the native son of the hero.

The film received quite low estimates of viewers and critics. In general, the director did not manage to adapt the confusing storyline of the novel for the cinema, which is why the screen is turned out to be crumpled and vague. Alfredson later explained the creative failure of time shortage for filming.

Quotes

I like people. I just do not like to be with them together. The best lies on the ninety percent consists of the truth. We are people when sin. But we are gods, when we are goodbye. This is normal - to be afraid of something unknown. And who is not afraid - gluits the flippers before it should be.
