From the fairy tale about it traditionally begins the acquaintance of Russian children with folk creativity. According to the structure of "Kolobok" - a cumulative fairy tale, that is, built on the repetition of similar episodes. Fresh-eyed bread, singing a song, runs away from hungry people and animals, until he meets the character's path, which will be able to overcome him. There is no unambiguous morality in a fairy tale, the finders are invited to do the reader alone.
The plot of the ranking round bread - stray, that is, it is found among nations from different parts of the globe. It begins in the same way: the freshly baked bunch is rocked from the owners, goes on the journey and until time rescues from those who wish to eat it. But the final will be varied: if a fox ate a fox in a Russian fairy tale, then, for example, in his Norwegian pig, and in German he himself gave himself to the exacerbation of hungry children.
In Russian folklore, there are 16 history options, in Ukrainian - 8, in Belarus - 5, but they differ only in secondary heroes of the fairy tale, and the plot line is preserved unchanged. In the English version, instead of bread, the character names the Johnny donut, and in the American - a gingerbread man.
Kolobok - Traditional Russian bread, bucked from the remnants of flour, which was also called the heating, Kalabashka or Kolobukha. In the fairy tale there is a direct indication of the recipe: you need to be "on the barn of barking, for the sowing of rustle," that is, to collect the rest of the flour and make a quasher. Thanks to the mixing of sorts of cake, with baking, it rises so much that turns into a ball. Finished bread has a peculiar taste and can be kept for a long time, not worry.
There is a version that the name "Kolobok" comes from the overall Slavonic word "COLO", meaning a circle or wheel. Other scientists connect the meaning of the word with the concepts of "folobin", that is, to squeeze, or "Kolobya" - waste from oil production on which bread baked.
Researcher A.N. Afanasyev mentions that the originally of the ball was flat cake, because it was preparing without the use of Racing. The image (and recipe) of the round bolk belongs to a later period. The fairy tale is mentioned that bread is mixed on sour cream, which is uncharacteristic for Russian cuisine. This is a reference to the time of the fairy tale - the end of the Great Post, when fresh milk went into recycling, and only sour cream remained in the peasant house.
Although the old man is asking to "bake" a kolobok, in some embodiments, the fairy tale is clearly preparing not in the furnace, but in a pan: "In the oil of a spider" means "roasted".
This dish was not only food of the poor - the mention was preserved that "Colobs" was also served to the royal table, except that it was not baked from waste, but from the finest wheat flour with the addition of eggs and beef sala.

According to the writer Boris Akunina, the idea of the dangers of positive thinking is hidden in a tale: round bread - a character "absolutely not Russian", because it is always cheerful and does not torment bad premonitions. Being frivolous, he runs away from prosperous parents and falls into trouble. The hero does not help the hero, rather, rather, he brings to death.This, of course, the joke, but also the "serious" folklore researchers meet the characteristic of the hero as an intelligent boy running away from the parental house. In the pictures for children's books and in cartoons, a kolobok is often depicted by a child with a perky smile, a blush and a voiced voice.
Kolobok in cartoons and culture
Most of the cartoons about Kolobka belong to the Soyuzmult Film studio. Known hand-drawn and puppet shielding of old fairy tales, quotes and songs of which have been popular for many years. Outside the former USSR, a Russian fairy tale about Kolobkka was shielded only once: in 2000, a short animation film was released for the children of The Story of Kolobok, created by the Dutch director James Bluender.
In Russia, the birthplace of Kolobka is the Ulyanovsk region. Local authorities want to use a fabulous image to attract tourists: in plans - construction of the thematic park, production of souvenirs and baking sweet donuts in the form of a kolobka.
