Sergey Krikalev was born in Leningrad on August 27, 1958. His father was a serviceman. The boy from childhood was fond of swimming, and at school gave preference to physical education. His height and weight had to transfer heavy loads, so the teenager tried himself in several sports.
In 1975, the young man received a school certificate. He entered the institute and received a higher education in the specialty "Chemist-Laberante". Then Cricaleva was credited to the faculty of design of aircraft. He was also a member of the Bulk Sport Club.
Having completed training in 1981, Sergey decided to tie a biography with the case that was fond of earlier. The guy got a job in NGO "Energy" and became a tester of aircraft equipment. The responsibilities of the specialist also included the creation of instructions for pilotage.
Cosmonautics
In 1985, Krikalov became the senior engineer of the 191st Division and the participant of restoration work at Salyut-7. In the autumn of the same year, he was invited to the expedition. In 1986, Sergey Konstantinovich was held in the specialty "Cosmonaut Testor". The next 2 years he spent in the work on the project "Buran", and in 1988 he became part of the Team Union TM-7.Training began the skills of the flight engineer for debut in space. Cosmonauts were departed from the USSR, and returned to Russia. Based on this event, the film "Forgotten in Space" was shot. The expedition lasted 311 days, and Krikalu was handed the Order of the Hero of Russia. In 1992, NASA led the selection of Russian specialists to participate in its own program. Sergey Konstantinovich was invited to join the team. In 1994, he became a member of the STS-60 expedition. It was the first joint project of Americans and Russians.
In 1998, Krikalov spoke as a flight specialist in the first command of the ISS and for several months provided servicing the space station. Returning to the Motherland, Sergey Konstantinovich went on advanced training as a flight engineer.
The fifth flight in space took place in 2000. Cosmonaut supplied the composition of the team for flight to the ISS. In the expedition he spent 140 days. Sergey Krifalev is married. His wife is called Elena Terekhina. The personal life of the couple turned out to be connected with the work, since the future of the astronaut worked in the RKK "Energia". In the 1990s, Olga daughter was born in the family. More children were planned crying.
As in his youth, Sergey Konstantinovich prefers physical exertion, so it is swimming, windsurfing, tennis and mountain skiing. He loves an active lifestyle, continues to be interested in the highest pilot and has a hobby related to work. Cricalev has no account in "Instagram".
