In the original cartoon "King Leo", the heroine voiced the American actress Moira Kelly. The authors worked for a long time above the history and concept of the character - for example, a line was rejected in which the bed runs into the jungle due to the lovers of the scar (later she appeared in the musical). Also, the lioness initially was the younger brother Mitu, who made a company of Nale and Simba in their adventures, and a faithful friend of Bhati, but in the end these lines were excluded from the plot, as they were taken too dark and confusing.

When the bed grown, she began to listen more often to the voice of the mind and actively advocate in difficult situations. It is she who pushes the hero to choose the right path and helps dispel his doubts.
The most important role of the lioness plays in the first film, and in the following it acts only as an episodic character. A few years later, after the scar killed the mufas and usurped the throne, the panel fleeing in despair in the jungle, because life in Pride became unbearable. There she meets the gown Simba, who before that was considered dead, and convinces him to return to compete for the legal place of the heir. The lioness helps him in the battle, together with the relatives he welcomes him with a loud river as a new king, and at the end of the cartoon it comes to marry him.
Having become a queen, Nala finally loses his youthful dust. In return, it comes a degree and wisdom: she supports the spouse in any decisions, wisely raises children - Kiara and Kaion, not allowing Simbe to overly patronize them. When the situation grows, it is the mother who helps them to realize their strength, pass tests and strengthen related ties.
In the musical "King Lion", the image of Naly revealed the American singer Heather Heather. Directed by Julie Taymore decided that the lioness line in the cartoon was not disclosed enough, and strengthened the character, holding him more stage time.
