Molchanov was born on March 6, 1987 in Volgograd. His mother Natalia Molchanova was not yet a multiple free immersion champion, the world record holder. The girl met Alexey's father, Oleg, studying at the 5th course of the Volgograd Academy of Physical Culture. The young man was a student of the Faculty of Engineering. The young woman had to raise his son and daughter alone.

With each dive of Molchanov, the new stunning numbers, who have not yet been able to beat no one except Alexey himself. In 2018, he sank 130 meters at the Bahamas.
