Biography

The American artist Man Ray was formally connected with surrealism and Dadaism and created artworks in the genres of painting, photos and collage. He also became the author of a number of films belonging to the style of filman garde, and static work in such technicians as aircraft and an assembly.

Childhood and youth

Man Ray was born in Pennsylvania on August 27, 1890 in the family of Jewish emigrants from Russia, settled in Williamsburg. Parents who had the name of Radnitskiy first called Son Emmanuel, but he cut him to Mana, passing a number of formal procedures.

Father and mother owned a sewing business and attracted older children to work, so a boy with a brother and sisters spent a lot of time in the workshop. He mastered the technique of collage, collecting pictures from the flavors of the fabric, and over time this type of creativity has ceased to be a fun game.

Trying to separate from relatives, Ray refused to stay at the enterprise, but the items associated with modeling clothing actively used until the end of days. The second and beloved wife of Ray became American, Juliet Brown, who gave birth to Anna's daughter and organized the nominal fund. After the death of the artist, archival documents, pictures, films, memories and most picturesque works were taken there.

Creation

In the early period, Ray created decorative works, the purpose of which was the transfer of images of moving abstract bodies. He drew geometric shapes, removing the process to the film, and ultimately achieved that effect what he wanted.

In 1918, Man refused painting and became interested in kinetic installations, which later marked the beginning of the American gallery of contemporary arts.
