Fighter was born in 1983 in the city of Killin, Texas. From childhood, Tony was friends with sports, but from mixed martial arts was far away. Having excellent physical data, endurance and power, Tony, however, did not possess a proper foundation to flourish in mixed martial arts. To fill the basic disadvantages of technology, Johnson entered the American Academy of Kickboxing.

The rival was the active owner of the belt Tony Lopez, whom Johnson defeated on March 26, 2010 by the unanimous decision of the judges.
Capturing the championship belt in the fourth professional battle, Tony, however, quickly lost it: in August 2010, heavyweight was defeated by Daniel Kormye. This did not prevent an athlete to conclude a contract with Bellator, where he won a duel against Derrik Lewis in 2011. After that, the fighter did not speak 2 years due to the problems that revealed in the agreement with Bellator. But Johnson did not leave training and in 2013 again appeared in octave, to send Tim Silvia to Khuwa. This time the American performed under the auspices of One Championship.
