Biography

James Harrot worked for a veterinarian 25 years. At the peak of the life path, he began writing humorous stories about what had to deal with this field. In the period from 1970 to 1994, more than a dozen successful books came out from under the pen of a native of Great Britain. Today, there are several artistic films and TV shows on them.

Childhood and youth

The present name of the writer is James Alfred White. He was born on October 3, 1916 in Sunderland, which in the County of Tyne-End-Wir in the north of England, but from the first weeks lived in Glasgow - the largest city of Scotland.

Father James Henry White worked as a locksmore, and still fond of music, for the soul he worked as a silent movie with a pianist. Hannah's mother (in Major Bell) was a professional singer, and since the 1920s, he succeeded in sewing clothes. Their financial situation could be called stable.

There is an opinion that White grew in the conditions of total poverty. This assumption refuted the son of the veterinarian in the biography of "Real James Harrot" (1999).

For the first time about veterinary medicine, James learned from the monthly journal the hobby Meccano Magazine. Then he still studied at Hillhead High School. Personal life

On November 5, 1941, Joan Catherine Anderson Danbary became his wife James. The wedding took place in Tirsk - a small town of North Yorkshire county in the north of England.

Hannah White was disappointed by the fact that her only son married a simple girl from the poor family. It was a serious conflict: the veterinarian treated confidential relations with his parents, but he was sure that his personal life had arranged true.

Children were born in marriage. James, or Briefly Jim White, was born on February 13, 1943. He also became a veterinarian and inherited the practice of his father. Veterinary and creativity

Practice James White began immediately after graduating from college. Since 1940, he worked with Donald Sinclair - an eminent veterinarian of Great Britain. Most of the events that happened to the man in the youth, formed the basis of artistic works - curious cases, the consequence of still unspecified handicaps with animals, fluffy anticipation, etc.

In March 1941, Germany subjected to Glasgow bombardment. It was seriously affected by the house of White's parents. Being under the impression, he signed up by a volunteer in the royal air forces, although he was released from military service as a veterinarian.

In November 1942, White was trained as a pilot, and in August 1943 he was demobilized as unsuitable from a medical point of view. Returning to the rear, he continued to treat animals, already as a full partner Donald Sinclair.

In 1965, James decided to realize his longtitude plan and write a book about the veterinarian weekdays. After a few unsuccessful attempts came out the collection "If only they could say" (1970). It was extremely popular, especially if you consider that the name of the author was heard for the first time. The initial circulation of 3 thousand copies had to be increased by another 1 thousand - so quickly the UK society bought funny stories about animals.

Since the veterinarian wrote his first-person works, he was required by a pseudonym. The use of this name would be perceived as self-task, which was banned by the law by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. So James Harrot appeared.

The name of the veterinarian was invented when I watched a football match between Birmingham City and Manchester United in February 1969. At the gate of one of the clubs stood Jim Harrit. The surname seemed frantic writer. He checked her by the register of veterinarians and, not finding coincidences, assigned to himself.

The football player learned that the British writer took his surname, only in 1988 from the article in the Sunday Mail newspaper. Men met and became friends.

Death

Practice James stopped in 1991, reaching 75 years. At the same time, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
