Oleg Pokhodin was born in Salsk, Rostov region. After graduating from school, the young man entered VGIK, where he studied at the scenario Faculty. In the student times, Oleg worked as a film critic, wrote articles for various publications, including the "movie history".

According to the cinematographer, the idea of the film appeared from him back in 1998, but it was possible to implement it only in 2011. Work on the project was carried out under the Simferopol within 53 days. Especially for filming, the creators built a house on the sketches of the artist Sergey Agina. Materials for the building were looking for in the nearest villages, used window frames, doors, bricks, floorboards and old boards.
After entering the screens, the picture received positive assessments of the audience, and the director awarded the awards of the Festival "Window to Europe". Less than successful was the work of Pogodin as a scenario of the series "Sherlock Holmes" with Igor Petrenko and Andrei Panin in high roles. The premiere of the detective took place in 2013.
On the same year, Oleg Georgievich presented his new director's project - the drama "Creek Owl". Initially, cinematographer was against such a name, since it means a distress signal. He was afraid to stick trouble, so the series was called "special powers". But it did not save the team from problems, and they suffered from bad weather conditions. The following spectators were waiting for new works by the director. But only in 2017 he pleased them by the release of the drama "Time of First", the plot of which was founded on the biography of the cosmonaut Alexey Leonov. Pogodin was among the scripts of the picture.
