Biography
Participants of the Finnish rock band Blind Channel from the moment of founding sought to create their own unique sound and style. It helped them stand out from many other teams and won the love of listeners not only in their homeland, but also in the world.The history of creation and composition
The team was formed in Finland in 2013, but the history of its creation originates from those times when the participants studied at the music school in their hometown of Oulu.
Joel Hokka's vocalist and guitarist Joonas Pokko were rivals for a long time and performed in different groups, but decided to unite for common purposes. Soon they were joined by bassist Ollie Matela and drummer Tommy Lalli. The latter Musicians joined the rapper Niko Montaen, with whom they met during the school party. He also offered the name of the Blind Channel.
Music
The first rehearsals of the team took place in the garage, but then they believed that they were waiting for a great future. The premonition did not deceive, and soon after the formation of the group, the artists became the chadliners of the concert at the club 45 Special. Initially, this role was prepared by Defrage, but on that day their bassist went through with alcohol and was behind the bars.A few months later, the musicians presented the Debut Maxi-Single Antipode, which included the tracks of the Naysayers and Calling Out. But they were able to declare themselves in the international arena, thanks to the participation in the Wacken Metal contest, the finalists of which were able to speak at the Wacken Open Air Heavy Music Festival in Germany.
In the future, Blind Channel continued to delight the public with the appearances on large music venues in Native Finland. And already in 2015, after the victory at the competition organized by the YLEX radio station, they went to Belgium. That year was marked for artists and other significant events - the release of Foreshadows mini album and the signing of a contract with the Ranka Kustannus label.
Soon the participants announced the upcoming release of their first full-format plate. Revolutions came out in October 2016 and received a lot of positive feedback from musical critics. After that, Blind Channel participated in concerts of such teams as Amaranthe and Royal Republic.
In parallel with the performances, the performers were engaged in a record of the second album - Blood Brothers. His track list contained loved by the public Like A Brother, Wolfpack and Sharks Love Blood. The release gave the beginning of a new page in the group's biography, the changes were felt not only in the sound, but also in style. Artists began to give preference to white and red colors.
When a tour in support of the record approached the end, Blind Channel returned to the recording studio. They presented the Timebomb composition created in collaboration with Alex Mattson (Kauniswebs). After several joint speeches and projects, he decided to officially join the team as the 6th participant in the composition.
The third album has replenished the discography of the group in 2020 and received the name Violent Pop. With his release, a transition from white-red color gamut Blood Brothers to more gloomy black and silver. In addition to previously released singles Snake, Died Enough for You and Gun, a few new songs entered the track list, among them ONE OF US and LANTERNS.
In honor of the release of the plate, artists wanted to spend a large-scale tour and even turned over a trip to Russia, but the plans were not destined to come true due to a coronavirus infection pandemic. Being on a quarantine, the performers pleased the fan of the camouflage on the composition of the Left Outside Alone Singer Anastacia. Later, they also released a clip shot at the Sonic Pump Studio in Helsinki.
Blind Channel now
In January 2021, the musicians announced participation in the UUDEN Musiikin Kilpailu competition, the victory in which he enabled Finland on Eurovision. For the selection, they chose the Dark Side song, quickly conquered the love of the public. Even before the concert speech, Blind Channel was named after the match.
In February, the final took place, according to its results, the participants of the rock band took 1st place. Part of their performance was the demonstration of middle fingers, which artists explained to the desire to express disappointment by the situation in the world. Dark Side was written during a pandemic period of coronavirus infection that has become a heavy test for stars.
Now the performers continue to create, rolling the repertoire. On the dates of concerts and planned events, they inform fans on the official website and the "Instagram" page, accompanying video and photo posts.
