Serbian singer and composer George Maryanovich shone on stage in the 60s-1970s of the last century, won popularity both in Native Yugoslavia, and in the friendly Soviet Union. Thousands of residents of the USSR were heard by the songs of a foreign artist, crowds went to his concerts, thanks to which the singer considered Russia his second homeland.

Childhood and youth

George Maryanovich was born on October 30, 1931 in the Serbian community of Kuchvo, where there was a couple of thousands of local residents. The city, located on the banks of the river Pek, passed the childhood of the future singer, who lost his mother in infancy. His father Svetomir had three children - daughter Lillian and Sons George and Vislav. The man re-entered into marriage, and the grandchild took care of her grandchildren.

Maryanovich grew by a cheerful and artistic boy, and his acting tag was found on the school theater scene. Although the childhood of the artist had to be in the difficult war years, he was able to preserve valet and desire to share joy with the public.

After the war, George graduated from the gymnasium and moved to Belgrade, where he studied at the Institute for Pharmacist. He recalled that he was poor and modest, but at the same time played in an amateur theater. Friends knew that Maryanovich sang perfectly and possessed artistic charisma. It is with the filing of a friend a guy went to the competition announced by Belgrade Radio in 1954.

Jury members were conquered by a shy young man who was transformed as soon as he went on stage and took the microphone into his hands. He did not have a strong voice, but he knew how to spread the public and instantly fell in love with him. From that moment on, the singe career Maryanovich began, who began to learn vocals at eminent teachers of the metropolitan conservatory. The pharmaceuticals were abandoned, and the young man firmly settled on the stage.

Music

The breakthrough Maryanovich took place in 1959. Then he first made a broad public as a soloist and conquered listeners with temperamental behavior, which focused on the lack of performing experience. Tracks went concerts, festivals and contests, where the young singer won the audience.

Success to the musician came along with the hit whistling at 8 o'clock, which George performed in his characteristic expressive manner. He could not resist the microphone and sang, dancing, squeezing, falling on his knees and coming into contact with the audience.

His name began to rattle all over the country, and in a matter of weeks, Yugoslavia covered Georgeania. Maryanovich's concert tickets were not to get, his records were bought as hot cakes, and fans were ready to give anything for the photograph of the idol.

It is said that every second child of Serbia at that time was called in honor of the singer. Fan clubs appeared in the country, and "Jokysts" appeared (so they began to call the cuishes of George, they turned out to be so betrayed the singer, which was arranged street riots, when he did not receive the main award at the Belgrade Spring festival.

By the beginning of the 1960s, the glory of the Yugoslav artist was sought to the USSR. At that time, he, Radmila Karaklaich, Ivitsa Sherfhezi and other artists from friendly socialist countries enjoyed tremendous popularity on Soviet Earth.

Party newspapers even wrote concerned about the fact that it was not necessary to become foreign singers to become idols of communist youth. But the propaganda fans of Maryanovich was not to stop. They bought out idol bouquets and crowds went to his concerts that George turned into real shows.

He came across without conference, easily leading a dialogue with the public in Russian. In his repertoire, not only Serbian hits "Little girl", "Marco Polo", "Vulcan of Love" and "Angela", but also Soviet songs "Three years old I dreamed of" and "Men's loyalty".

Personal life

The singer was not in vain called Russia for his second homeland, because his personal life arranged there. He met the young translator of Ellie during the tour in the USSR and, although George himself spoke in Russian perfectly, he gladly resorted to the help of a girl who performed the role of the organizer and helped the artist to arrange life.

Ellie studied at the Philological Faculty of the University of Leningrad and dreamed of becoming a translator from Hungarian. The novel soon began between them, but George returned to Belgrade, and a blonde girl remained in the USSR. By the time she was already pregnant, but in the correspondence did not report it, because she did not want to put pressure on his beloved.

When George found out about the birth of Natasha's daughter, he was on the seventh heaven from happiness. Immediately arrived in Moscow, Maryanovich issued documents for his beloved and transported it to Yugoslavia. Ellie was shocked by a reception in the Balkan Earth: their young family met the tens of journalists from the plane.

The middle daughter went to live in Greece, marrying the basketball player from Thessaloniki. Death

In 2021, the Serbian singer discovered COVID-19. The artist was connected to the apparatus of artificial ventilation of the lungs, the doctors fought for his life, but on May 15, 2021, Maryanovich died. The cause of death was the consequences of the transferred coronavirus infection.
