Nikolai Gnatyuk was born in the Ukrainian village. Unifying 14 September 1952. His mother was a teacher of junior classes, and his father is the chairman of the collective farm. Kohl from early childhood showed vocal abilities, so parents sent a child to learn from the neighboring city of Starokonstantinov, where aunt boy lived. Here the Gnatyuk had the opportunity to attend musical classes.
I studied at school, Nikolai entered the Rivne Pedagogical Institute for the Music and Pedagogical Faculty. Already then, Gnatyuk was confident that he wants to associate life with music, and intended for anything to realize this dream. He strengthened in the desire of the young man after unusual sleep. In the vision, he heard a voice that he invited him to choose future fate. In the intentions of Kohl then remained adamant.
The musician began to climb the creative Olympus with an ensemble called "We - Odessans". He did not stop singing and during service in the Soviet Army, demonstrating vocal talents in the ensemble of the 8th Combines Guards Army, organized on the basis of a group of Soviet troops in the German city of Weimar.
Having gave the debt home, Nikolai Vasilyevich began to take lessons in the studio of the Leningrad Music-Hall, while at the same time he received the opportunity to tour the cities of the USSR as part of a popular vocal instrumental ensemble called "Friendship", whose soloist was previously Edita Pieha.

Despite the fact that the artist has already worked as a young age in the music industry, he acquired popularity only in 1978. Then he ranked first in the Ukrainian competition of pop artists held in Zaporizhia. A year later, the performer won the third place on the sixth competition of all-union scale artists.In 1980, a contest of a pop song in German Dresden was held, where Gnatyuk received the Grand Prix. At the competition, he noted the director of the festival in Sopot (Poland) Pan Sikorsky. After this meeting, in the name of Nicholas to Moscow, a request came from the editorial committee of musical competition.
After a few months, the singer received the highest award at the Intervision Festival, held in Poland with the song Raymond Pauls and Andrei Voznesensky "Dance on the drum". The musical composition of the artist found randomly and finalized at the last moment.

Second wave of popularity

Another extremely popular song of the Ratyuk's return period to the very popularity was the composition "Oh, Midk!", Dedicated to a special breed of slender picturesque firs growing in the Carpathians. Now in Transcarpathia, this song is considered almost peculiar anthem in the region. The companion performed by this composition at concerts for the Ukrainian singer was repeatedly becoming his brother Anatoly Gnatyuk.
In the 47th age, Nikolai Vasilyevich paid close attention to the spiritual component of life and entered the Belgorod spiritual seminary, to the missionary department.
