The first appearance of the mongrels on the screens took place in 1973. The debut of the ball became the children's book "Uncle Fedor, a cat and the dog", the author of which - Edward Uspensky - was already familiar with the young readers on the works of Cheburashka and Crocodile Gene.
In 1975, the creative association "Screen" shielded a fairy tale. The cartoon consisted of three parts and described in detail about the acquaintance of the main characters. The voice of the optimistic ball presented the Soviet actor Yuri Stupakov. For incomprehensible reasons, the film did not like the children, and soon the cartoon hit the archive.
Repeated shielding of the book entrusted the "Soyuzmultfilm". A whole team of multipliers worked on the cartoon. Develop the image and appearance of the ball was to be reached by Nikolai Erber. The creators of the cartoon decided for a long time, who would voiced the ball be best. The choice fell on the actor and director Lion Durov.

The ball was born and grew in the village of Prostokvashino. Nothing is known about the parents of the mongrels, but before the meeting with Uncle Fyodor, the dog guarded the cottage of Professor Semin.
