Biography
On the night of September 9-10, 1972, billions of people around the world were tensely followed the final of the Basketball Tournament of the Summer Olympic Games. The battle between the teams of the USSR and the United States was a real plenty thriller, and there was something more than gold medals on Konou.
The famous athlete from Kazakhstan Alzhan Zharmahamedov became a member of that difficult tournament. 45 years after that heavy night, the 73-year-old Alzhan Musurbekovich visited the film of the film of the Russian director Anton Megherdicheva "Movement Up", dedicated to the legendary match. Olympic champion, the 1976 Olympic Games winner remembered the sports victories and defeats in his life and again plunged into the events of the past days.
Childhood and youth
Alzhan Musurbekovich Zharmahamedov was born in a small village of Tavaksai (territory of modern Uzbekistan) October 2, 1944. The village was located in Kazakhstan, in close proximity to the border with Uzbekistan and in the middle of the twentieth century, transferred to the Uzbek Republic. Alzhan led the way of life of the usual Soviet boy, he studied at school and did not think of any sport career. In the ninth grade, the young man went with a school excursion to Tashkent, where he noted the coach of the student team on basketball. The guy attracted him with high growth. So Alzhan became acquainted with basketball.
Nevertheless, from the world of big sports, the young man was still far away. After graduating from school, he worked in a small Uzbek town of Chirchik at the factory. However, sporting progress and coach persuasion did their job - Zharmahamedov left the job and entered the Tashkent Institute of Physical Education. At the same time, in 1963, the young man seriously took up basketball, playing first for the student team, and then for the Tashkent SKA.
Basketball
At the matches for SKA, the achievements of Zharmahamedov noticed other coaches and began to lunch a promising basketball player in the "Burevestnik" (the city of Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan). While clubs could not solve among themselves, where to play an athlete, Moscow CSKA concluded a contract with Alzhan, and the young man moved to the capital. At the same time, successful Zharmahamedov became a member of the USSR national team on basketball.
The first significant achievement of Algehan was the victory at the European Championships in 1967. Speech at the World Championships in three years has become less successful: the team took only third place in the overall ranking.

Personal life
Alzhan Musurbekovich does not like to devote those who surround the details of his personal life, it is only known that he is married and in marriage has two sons - Vladislav and Sergey, who are also passionate about basketball. Having left Basketball, Alzhan Zharmajamedov worked as a coach in the Soviet troops posted on the territory of Germany, and then returned to Kazakhstan, where he trained athletes from SKA.
In the 2000s, the former basketball player worked as a coach in the children-youth section on basketball, which he himself created. However, Zharmahamedov postponed work and personal affairs to visit the premiere of the sports drama director Anton Megherdicheva "Movement up". Having waging such a difficult match, Russian athletes could not find out the results of the match before the lunch of the next day. Players nervous, worried, could not even sleep. Only at 13:00 on September 10, 1972, the guys found out that they became Olympic champions.
A number of curious facts from the drama really took place in that match. Algehan Zharmahamedov really flew out the lens in one of the matches, as shown in the film, but it happened after the Olympics. Alzhana has played glasses for a long time because of the problems with vision, but often the glasses fell in the midst of the game, they could not continue the match athlete.
Then the coach found a good ophthalmologist athlete, which made contact lenses on an individual order. It turned out to play in the lenses much more convenient, although they sometimes lost directly on the site. Sometimes the judge even stopped the match, and the guys together were looking for a lost lens, later Alzhan got an extra set.
And after the won Olympiad, Russian athletes were waiting for trouble at customs, which also reflected Anton Megherdichev in the film. It happened on June 7, 1973. With customs inspection in personal belongings of basketball players, including Algehan Zharmahamedov, there was a weapon.
Given that the baggage of athletes has been kept in the United States basketball federation during the month, assumed that the leadership of the US team wanted to take revenge on the Russians for defeating in the final match of the basketball tournament at the Olympic Games in 1972. In an interview with Alzhan Musurbekovich, he said that he knew who concretely threw the weapons, but he did not want to speak this topic.
This unpleasant situation is echoing with another case from the life of Zharmahamedov. For achievements in the field of Sport Alzhan Musurbekovich, awarded the title of Master of Sports of International Class. In 1970, Moscow CSKA played in Paris, and taking into account the shortage of imported goods in the USSR, the athletes were brought home clothes and other things from abroad.
In particular, Alzhan bought French shirts in an amount exceeding the norms permissible to import. Then the sports title for violating the customs regime was taken from Zharmahamedov. But next year, after the victory on the continental championship, the title was returned.
Despite political intrigue, health problems and age, Alzhan Musurbekovich and Sports did not part. Now Zharmahamedov works as a coach at school No. 2107 in Moscow, where teaches children and adolescents to the intricacies of the game of basketball. And on weekends, the athlete plays in friendly matches of basketball veterans and, as they say, still gives odds to much younger players.
