Serge Tancanian is an American musician of Armenian origin, a vocalist of the System of A DOWN group and the founder of the SERJ TANKIAN solo project.Childhood and youth
A future musician and vocalist in August 1967 was born in the capital of Lebanon - Beirut. Serzh's parents - Alice and Hatchador - Armenians by nationality, but Syrian Aleppo became the place of appearance of the Father's light. Hatchador is a musician, owns a SERJICAL STRIKE RECORDS sound recorder.
Serge is the firstborn Tankian. When the family decided to move to Los Angeles, except 8-year-old Serge, they smasted the younger son of Sevak.
In the cradle of the Hollywood "Dream Factory" and pop music, Serge Tankyan attended the bilingual Armenian school Rose & Alex Philibosi, where he studied the Aza marketing and became interested in music. Soon, the young tankyan mastered the guitar game and sabot.
The future vocalist grew on the music of different directions and genres: rock, punkey, hip-hop, extreme Dat-Metall. The National Music of Armenia, Greece, France, England, Arab motives affected the tastes of the guy. Later, this variety of cultures and styles will fall out in System of A Down Syncretic Music and other Tankian projects.
In the mid-1980s, Serge Tancan graduated from school and continued to study marketing. After 4 years, he became a bachelor in the field of business management.
The creative biography of the musician began pretty late: at 20, Tankian turned to music as a major lesson. He came to this decision, having tried forces in trade and programming. He thought of legal education, but stopped on time, realizing what had the greatest attraction.
Music
In the early 1990s, Serge Tancan, joining the Armenian community in Los Angeles, met guitarist and vocalist Daron Malakyan. In 1994, young people organized the first musical group by calling it to SOIL. After a few shifts of the team of the team, Tankian remained in it, Malakian and stuck compatriots: Bassist Shavvo Odagyan and Drummer John Dolmayan. In 1995, the group was renamed System Of A Down (SOAD).
The first solo project - the Debut Album ELBE The Dead - Tancanis presented in October 2007. It includes old and new songs SOAD. Serge Tankyan with the team went to the tour. The first concert in the support of the album was held in Chicago. ELECT THE DEAD includes popular Sky Is Over and Lie Lie songs performed in the genre of progressive metal and rock. Soon the clips were shot on the hits.
In 2008, the vocalist participated in the PRAXIS group album record, which was published by Profanation. And in the fall of 2009, Serge Tankian in a duet with his father reminded themselves in a historic homeland: they performed the composition of Alexei Ekyan. The song in Armenian sounded in the live broadcast of Armenian television.
The beginning of 2010 was marked by a surprise that the singer made fans: he recorded the first composition accompanied by a symphony orchestra. Empty Walls Song is the flagship of the ELECT The Dead Symphony Concert Album, recorded under symphony music.
In September 2010, the new IMPERFECT HARMONIES album was released, and next year Serge Tankian introduced an album composed of remixes of Song Imperfect Harmonies.
In early 2011, SOAD and her vocalist were pleased with music lovers and fans of the Musicom about Promethea. In August, before the concert in Yerevan, Serzh Tankian was awarded the medal for promoting Armenian music and contribute to the world recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
In the summer of 2012, Serge Tankian presented with music albans of the Harakiri rock album, and at the beginning of 2013 declared cooperation with Hip-Hop vocalist Tech N9ne. In the same year, Raper's album Something Else was released, which entered the collaborative composition Straight Out the Gate.
The fruit of the joint creativity of Serzh Tankyan and the composer and DJ from Italy Benni Benasi became a song of the Shooting Helicopters. The composition entered the album of dance electronic music of Benassi Danceaholic, released in 2016.
In 2017, the tankian with Catherine Ivanchikova, the soloist of the Iowa team, starred in the clip on the composition "A wonderful day to die", which became musical accompaniment of the movie "Legend of Kovrovrat".
Serge Tancanian is not indifferent to the fate of Armenia and repeatedly voiced the position regarding the massacres of compatriots in the Ottoman Empire. By the day of the memory of the victims of the genocide, the System of A Down soloist and his like-minded people turned to the American president Barack Obama with a call to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide in the first quarter of the XX century.
As part of the campaign, Serge Tankian wrote an article in which he told about the tragedy of the people in the context of the dramatic fate of grandparents, severely killed in those years.
Personal life
Artist's wife - Armenian Angela Madatian. Roman lasted 8 years, starting in 2004. Angela was born in the third largest city in Armenia - Vanadzor.
Married Tankian and Madatyan in the summer of 2012. The wedding took place in a symbolic place for future spouses - the city of Echmiadzin. This is one of the most significant cultural and religious centers of Armenia, its spiritual center since the beginning of the IV century.
In October 2014, the youngest for 16 years Angela gave birth to a 47-year-old wife of the firstborn, which was called Rumi. Serge Tancan, extremely rarely opening the strangers of personal life, on joys published a photo of the baby on the page in "Instagram".
Vocalist loves New Zealand. There, Tankian has a cozy house in which he rests from the close attention of fans and the media.
Serge Tankian is a convinced vegetarian. In an interview, he said that the change in lifestyle was "somewhat instinctive." So the artist shows respect for the mother-land. In the summer of 2009, the singer signed a collective request of the Reta, protesting against cruel methods of slaughtering chickens on slaughterhouses.

Earlier, Serge Tancan was in Yerevan and supported the protest of the opposition, calling it a "beautiful revolution." In "Instagram" he warned fans that he would not give a concert, and sang only one composition on Armenian - the song "White Stork".
Talking about events in the country, Tankyan admitted to journalists that he did not sleep at night and was watching what was happening. He is sure that the people ripe for a decisive step forward and believes in Pashinyan.
Nikol Pashinyan, having entered the rights of the Prime Minister, adopted a famous rock musician of Armenian origin and thanked for his support. Politician and singer discussed events in the country and its future. Tankian wished success and effective work to the new government, and Pashinyan admitted that on the road from the airport persuaded Serzh return to the historic homeland.
