On October 29, 1959, on the pages of the popular magazine Pilote, readers first saw an unusual comic. The main hero of hand drawn history was not at all superhero, but a low resident of the village of Galov, the main occupation of which was mockery of Roman soldiers. A bold squad called asterix.
The authors of the new comic was the artist Alber Holder and Writer Rene Gosinny. The French watched the adventures of Gaul. Two years later, the adventures of Asterix were transferred from the pages of the magazine to their own full-fledged collection.
The initial appearance of the character varied with the final option. Holder depicted a hero with a real military: High Gall was closed in the armor and did not inferior in the muscles of the avoyful bodybuilder. But the plot that came up with Gosinny, did not match such appearance. Colleagues managed to come to a compromise: Obelix appeared next to Asterix - Giant, compensating for the shortcomings of a small hero.
