"The story of Peter and Fevronia Muromsky" appeared in the middle of the XVI century. The author of this life of the saints, Inok Ermolai, processed and recorded the oral Murom legends. The researchers believe that Yermolai connected two fabulous plots - about the wise Virgin and the fire snake.
These motives of the magic fairy tale ink used, creating the history of Murom Saints Peter and Fevronia by order of Metropolitan Moscow. The order was made after Peter and Fevronia were canonized at the Church Cathedral. The plot gained popularity and began to be developed further in iconography and literature.
According to the legend, to the wife Paul, who reigned in the city of Murom, was a fiery snake. It happened when the prince himself was not at home. Fevronia agreed to heal the prince, but in response demanded that Peter marry her. He gave the floor, but in the end, when the girl cured him, violated the promise. Fevronia was out of a little bit and for this reason did not attract Peter as a spouse.

When Peter became a prince of Muromsky after his brother Paul, the boyars were opposed to the provinciality of Fevronia to become the princess and raised over them. Death
