Today, the group, as before, is surrounded by fans, and its romantic soloist, although it does not wear any bird feathers on the head, still full of creative energy and youthful zador.The history of creation and composition
As in the case of many other rock bands, the history of the creation of The Rasmus originates at the time when the soloists were still schoolchildren. Four buddies - Lauri, Varno, Eero and Pauli - united against the backdrop of passionate love for music Nirvana and Metallica and decided to create their team. Then they were 13-15 years old.
The name for the collective was chosen arbitrarily: Rasmus is a male Swedish name that does not have any special meaning for the participants simply to be in moderate and short. Prior to that, pleasures rejected Sputnik, TRASH-MOSH and ANTTILA options.
The group began with the execution of the trunks of their favorites on school balas and local disco. Odnoklassniki and friends came to delight, but for the musicians themselves it was only entertainment. Over time, they realized how cool they turn out, and firmly decided to become famous, just to do it with someone else's material it would be difficult. Young talents started writing their own songs in an alternative rock genre.
The main part of the work took on Lauri Yulienne (in Russian, his last name is sometimes written as Ilonen, but this is not entirely true) - in his biography there are a full-fledged musical education. In the summer holidays, the guys found work to accumulate money for a professional entry. For a couple of months of putting out ads and packing parcels in the mail The future stars scenes earned enough to record the demo.
Music
Their debut entry fell to the Finnish radio station for a happy accident. After the song appeared on the air, DJ immediately began to come calls and letters from listeners who want to learn more about the unknown team. The leadership of the radio station realized that Rasmus is waiting for a brilliant future, and promised the support group.
A year after the base, the first single 1st was released, released by an independent label TEJA G. Records. Young musicians were immediately interested in the company Warner Music and offered them a long-term contract. A full-fledged Peep's debut album, who came out in May 1996, had a circulation of 10 thousand copies and immediately headed the charts in Finland. After that, the band went on tour and played more than 100 concerts not only at home, but also in Estonia and Russia.
By the time of the release of the 2nd work, Rasmus at home has already become recognized rock stars. The Album Playboys also quickly overcame the "golden" mark of 10 thousand sold copies, and the guys themselves became laureates of the Finnish Grammy in the nomination Best New Act of 1996. In the same year, the group played another hundred concerts, including the sets "on Heat "At the famous team of that time, Dog Eat Dog and Rancid, and also spoke at the stadium before 40 thousand people and appeared on television.
In the 1998, their regular single Liquid fans and critics declared the song of the year. Rasmus released the 3rd album and continued to ride the tour. A year later, the musicians acted in prefabricated concerts already as chadliners.
Shortly thereafter, changes occurred in the team - the place of the former drummer Yanne Haiscanene took Aki Hakala, and the name was changed to The Rasmus. In the discography of the group there was a break of 3 years long: the guys entered into a new contract with Playground Music Scandinavia label and decided to look for a new sound.
The next Dead Letters disc was significantly different from the previous ones. First, all the songs were recorded in English with an eye on the European audience, secondly, the musicians generously added to the style of gloomy and depressiveness, without canceling the energetic feed. The producers were submitted such an idea - earlier this "chip" group HIM has already been used.
Lauri complained that he was forced to make a rude voice with the help of a huge number of cigarettes, and to create the desired mood guys were to watch terrible films without end. Musicians, a break of Stockholm video schools, mined a whole mountain of discs with "horror meters" and, looking at them, fell into such an depressed state that nightmares began to see nightmares.
The torments of the guys were not in vain. Clear and fashionable sound combined with thoughtful image support helped their songs quickly climb the tops of the Scandinavian and German charts. The main hit of the plate was the song in The Shadows, which, which, so far, many fans consider the best in the work of The Rasmus. Album Dead Letters brought musicians not only a record amount of money, but also a lot of premiums and awards.
In the following years, the performers went to the tour in Japan, released a new job of Hide from The Sun and DVD with concert records, starred in a documentary film about their creative path and recorded with the Nightwish soloist Annette Olson OCTOBER & APRIL.
The release of the next Black Roses album was late because of the happy event in the Vocalist family - a girlfriend Lauri, the singer Paula Web, gave birth to him the Son, whom Julius Christian called him. The first single with Black Roses has become the song Livin 'in a world without you.
In 2009, The Rasmus was visited by 9 cities of Russia as part of the Monsters Rock Tour, and after 4 years, the Finnish group arrived at the Festival "O.", dedicated to the Finno-Ugric culture, which was held in Komi.
Despite the dark and gloomy image, musicians are big romance. Lauri confessed in an interview that he considers the Icelandic singer Bjork his angel-keeper - in honor of her he made a tattoo in the form of a bird. They were never familiar, but her work inspired and supported him in difficult moments.
Yulenen also told that he loves Russian songs and takes with me the tour of the little figures of the heroes of Russian cartoons - crocodile genes and Cheburashka.
"Fishka" of the scenic image of Lauri for a long time was the long dreadlocks, to which he added black feathers on the set and concerts, but in the last photos it is clear that he decided to abandon extravagant appearance in favor of a modest short haircut.
The last studio album has become a full-fledged studio album, released in 2017. In it, the team again experiments with sound, this time adding electronic music in it. The group leads the official website and an account in "Instagram".
The Rasmus now
In 2018, the team issued a new single Holy Graail. In his support, they made a clip: the shooting was held in Japan, and the process was led by the director Jan Klemol. Lauri wrote this song during a long touring tour in Russia and dedicated her to the "anti-peers" - those fans that at the concert stand behind and are not visible from the stage, but he feels in whose energy and perceives it particularly acute."I often think about them standing there, where the light can get from the spotlights, and I see yourself in them," the musician explained.In the spring of the same year, The Rasmus went to the tour in Russia, driving the whole country from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok and giving concerts in 22 cities. Now they work on a new material and promise fans that their creative smear is enough for another 10 years.
