Mention of Lilith can be found in early Christian apocryphic texts that have not entered the Biblical Canon, in the book of Zogar and the Svitchi of the Dead Sea. In the book of Isaiah there is a passage, where the word "Lilith" (Lilith) is called a certain night ghost.
The name of Lilith is translated from Hebrew as Night. The same word in Hebrew denote one of the varieties of owls. This is most likely due to the tradition of portraying Lilith along with the owl.
In the canonical texts of the Bible, Lilith is not mentioned. In the Jewish text of the book of Isaiah, the word "Lilith" is used to designate a night ghost, which will be resting in the palaces of the empty iduma, along with the beasts of the desert, which will grow there. "Lilith" here is not the name of its own. In the modern American version of the Bible, this word is translated as "The Night Monster", that is, the "night monster".
In the Jewish tradition, Lilith becomes the wife of the Angel of the death of Samael, who is identified with Satan, mother and queen of demons.
Myths and legends
