The fame of the BRAINSTORM group begins with success at Eurovision-2000: Latvia first took part in a song contest and immediately won the 3rd place due to the top five guys singing in the genre of alternative indie music. Today, the team members may say that their cherished creative dreams come true: the first lines of charts, "golden" albums, full stadiums of viewers, world tours. But ahead is still a lot of goals and new horizons.The history of creation and composition
A group that knows and love throughout the world was born in the small Latvian town of Jelgava, not far from Riga. And more precisely, it all started from the friendship of five boys who studied in the same school and in the "music".
Teenagers played in the school orchestra, sang in the choir, and came home, played their music. The first creative experiences began Janis Yubalts (Gitara) and Gundars Maushevichs (bass). Then Renars Cowers (vocals) and Kaspars Rog (drums) were joined to the duet. The last to the group joined Maris Michelson (keys, accordion).
Soon, the guys realized that their creative five would have developed as it was impossible: everyone was in their place, everyone understood the genre idea of performed music, no one rushed forward and did not pull the rest. The moment of this awareness and summed up the trait under the history of the group. Guys announced the birth of the team. In the courtyard stood 1989, and participants were 14 years old.

Musicians liked this characteristic, transferred the name to Latvian, and it turned out "Prata Vetra". And "Brainstorm" they left to conquer the international public.
Then, at the dawn of the career, they still did not know that they could pass the test with copper pipes, to preserve friendship and dedication to the group. Even when in 2004, Basist Gundars Maushevich was killed in an accident, the musicians did not take a person in a permanent composition, posthumously consolidated by a team friend in the team. Music
A young band took a course on high-quality European rock, inspiring grunge style. The debut album "Vairāk Nekā Skaļi" came out in 1993. He did not bring much success, in essence, only one song became "Ziema" ("Winter"). At this time, creativity is only a hobby of musicians: everyone had a job that allowed to survive. Renars worked on the radio, Janis and Maris - in the judiciary, Kaspars worked by the operator. But his free time was dedicated to a dream - wrote songs, rehearsed, without losing faith in themselves.
And soon they smiled at them: in 1995, the composition "Lidmasinas" ("Airplane"). Her marvelous motive fell to the taste of Latvian youth. Hit became the song of the year on the radio "Super FM," won another awards. In the same year, Brainstorm with great success performs at the large international international festival "Rock Summer" in Tallinn.
The second album "Veronica" guys released in 1996. Here entered the hits "Dārznieks" ("Gardener"), "Apelsīns" ("Orange") and, of course, "aircraft". The creativity of the guys, which is becoming more and more popular with the day, pays attention to the major recording label "Microphone Records". And the new album of 1997 "Viss Ir Tieši Tā kā Tu Vēlies" ("Everything exactly as you wish") guys are written already on a good studio.
The perfection of sound only strengthened the effect of listening to the plate, which made the effect of a broken bomb: In the new album, the musicians included lyrical ballads, invigorating guitar hits, melodic soft-fat compositions. The disk broke records for the sale, coming soon in the category of gold. And Prata Vetra became famous for all Latvia.
It was only the beginning of the triumph. Guys from Jelgava decided that it was time to go to the international level. And the next English-speaking single "Under My Wing" was recorded in Germany, and the clip was rotated throughout Europe. Success convinced guys to start recording the Debut International Album "Among the Suns", which was released in 1999. The European public accepted the larch "with a bang." In Latvia, the disc became platinum, and in other European countries it was reprinted 17 times.
It was the song from the album "Among the Suns" - "My Stars" - chose musicians for the Eurovision-2000 vocal competition in Stockholm. Latvia first sent his contenders for world looking, and the question of who will represent the country decided for a short time - of course, "Brainstorm". The guys did not let, winning the country's 3rd place for the country, and for themselves - incredible prospects and the opportunity to glorify the whole world.
After Eurovision, the guys from BRAINSTORM became stars. The speech of talented Latvians noted the "The Times" edition, Melody Maker and SMASH HITS. The guys had to change the names on those that are more familiar to the overseas audience: Renars became Reynard, Maris - Mike, Janis - Johnny, Kaspars - Nickname, and Gundars - Peter. From now on, the guys write down albums in national and international versions.
In 2001, the discography of the musicians joined the album "Online", in which the single "Maybe" entered, which became the hit group for all times. "Online" is the first and while the only album of the team, who received gold status outside Latvia. Since then, performances abroad become for guys with ordinary affairs.
Soon their children's dream came true - the guys played a heating from "Depeche Mode". The legendary rockers performed in Riga at Skonto Stadium, and 2 years later, in 2003, Brainstorm broke their record, gathering 25 thousand spectators at the same stadium.
2004 became heavy for musicians: in the summer, a friend and faithful companion Gundars Maushevichi died, the guys continued to work on a new album already four, calling a new disk symbolic - "Four Shors". The main hits of the album were "Thunder Without Rain", "Tin Drums" and "Lonely Feeling". The last single is known in Russia called the "Wind", the Russian version of the video is lifted.
Now in Russia, almost every Meloman knows the BRAINSTORM group. The conquest of the Russian audience guys from Latvia began in 2009, releasing a new record "Step", which included 6 songs in Russian. Previously, they recorded joint tracks with the BI-2 group ("slippery streets"), with a musician, actor and playwright Evgeny Grishkovets and the Biguchi Group ("at Zare").
Now the albums of the collective are published in three languages - Latvian, English and Russian.

The topic of joint creativity is close to the group "Brainstorm". The album "There's something should be there" ("TUR KAUT KAM IR Jābūt") issued in collaboration with the Latvian Rapper Gustavo as an experiment with a hip-hop direction. The musicians also worked with Ilya Lagutenko and the Mumi Troll group, Zemfira, the Georgian team "MGZAVRA", the American artist David Brown, the "Comedy Women" artist, and others.
In 2012 after the release of the album "Vel Viena Klusa Daba" (in English - "Another Still Life", in Russian - "Seagulls on the roofs") musicians went to a large-scale world tour and visited concerts almost all continents. Next year, tour smoothly flowed into festival trips: Latvians visited SziGet (Hungary), "Rock for People" (Czech Republic), Summer Sound (Latvia), "Wings", "Invasion" (Russia).
In the spring of 2015, members of the group presented a new album "7 SOļI SVAIGA GAISA" for Latvia ("7 Steps of Fresh Air"), and the documentary "" Brainstorm ": between the shores", telling about 25-year history of the collective .
"The idea belongs to the same Latvian company, but a lot of material accumulated in our archives, and it was necessary to decompose it on the shelves," said Kaspars Rog.2016-2017 Guys preferably spent on trips. In the spring of 2016, they went to a tour of the UK, along the course of which the cities of Baltic and Russia visited, the final concert was held in the capital of Ireland, Dublin, with a complete manschlage.
"Brainstorm" now
On April 25, 2018, Brainstorm released the album "Wonderful Day" ("Par To Zēnu, Kas Sit Skārda Bungas"). The video for the same single is removed at the international space station with a cosmonaut of Roscosmos Sergey Ryazansky.
Also, a lot of time, the musicians were dedicated to the film - the guys first took part in the filming of a full-fledged artistic painting "7 dinners" directed by Kirill Plenev. Participants in the group play themselves, and, of course, an unforgettable music "Brainstorm" sounds leitmotif.
The film will be released on the screens in 2019. At the same time, the famous four plans to organize a grand show in his native Latvia.
