Morcheeba is a musical team created in the UK. In the work of the Group, the motives of rock and R & B, trip-hop and ass are surprisingly combined.
Appearing in 1995, by 2018 the ensemble managed to release 9 albums, 2 of which came to the list of the best plates in England.
The history of creation and composition
The initiators of the creation of the team were the Godfrey brothers. Ros played keyboards, guitar and bass. Paul composed texts, and also worked for drums and over scratch. The childhood of musicians was held in Dover, where the music was the only intense in boring daily everyday life.
At first, the guys were listeners, and then decided to become performers. By the end of the 1980s, they already showed each other the first works of their own essay. Paul fascinated the technical side of the issue more, and Ross was completely given to the blues.
Music all the more densely penetrated Godfrey's biography. When at the party in 1994, the instrumentalists got acquainted with Sky Edwards, it became clear that the composition of their team would undergo changes. The dark-skinned owner of an attractive tone also loved the music and marijuana, like Godfrey. The voice of the vocalist harmonized with the style that I improved brothers, and the use of folklore motifs made the music of the trio of harmonious and solid.
The name was invented by the participants of the ensemble. They created an abbreviation, the first part of which is literally translated as "the middle of the road", and the second in Slang means "marijuana". Incompatible combined in the name of the collective and its creative style. The performers were inspired by the music of Jimmy Hendrix, were fond of the blues of the beginning of the 20th century and the hip-hop course starting their formation at the end of the century. Pleasant hearing melodies were combined with mild vocals, causing the interest of the public.
Music
The songs of the band quickly became hits of Dudrian clubs and small scenes. The debut single "Trigger Hippie", released in 1995, allowed the musical public to talk about the individuality of Morcheeba. The vocals of the soloist estimated anyone who heard the composition. Now the ever wider audience was expected to release the first album of the team.
Presentation of the record "WHO CAN You TRUST?" held in 1996. The album reflected depressive sentiment, inspired by the life experience of musicians and the use of prohibited drugs. Confessional compositions and openness of artists bribed critics and listeners. Morcheeeba has gained the first popularity.
The musicians moved to the center of the British capital and, prewing from the progress of the first success, began studio work. Using a familiar chance for self-realization, they became recognizable due to the compositions "Never An Easy Way" and "Tape Loop".
Allowing the public to get used to the sound, the guys released a new record. The album "Big Calm" was presented in 1998. He confirmed the skill of artists and showed that they are able to change and rebuild. On radio stations, the disk recognized the best album of the year. The plate was sold by millionic circulation, which confirmed: the group enjoyed listeners.
The first tour began. Morcheeba performed in the legendary Albert Hall London and gained the status of one of the best living groups of Britain. Musicians were not easy to perform performances at the 1999 Turn. They exhausted strength and inspiration. Returning to his homeland, the artists decided on new changes.
The group for a while ceased to give concerts, and its participants took a small vacation to come to themselves. The carousel of the rapidly developing show business was not an easy test for the trio.
Percut, in 2000 Morcheeeeba returned to a grateful audience with a bold and unexpected album "Fragments of Freedom". The group appeared in an unusual role, departing from a familiar sound. Melodies did not inferior to the former compositions of the team and still fascinated the listeners. By giving concerts in support of the disk, the musicians again began to be worn out. This time the light saw "CHARANGO", which combined the trends of the 21st century and the familiar melody.
"Music cannibalism", popular in the middle of 20 centuries, inspired the team that used the traditional British rhythm. Inspired by the performers were confident: they are on the threshold of something new.
The team won all new loyal fans, putting in tour of China, Australia and Native England. In 2003, Morcheeeba released a collection of hits favorite listeners and supplemented it with 2 new tracks.
During this period, the Skye soloist decided to develop in the solo direction and left the team by giving way to the new vocalist Daisy Marty. In collaboration with the singer, The Antidote album was recorded, presented in 2005. Dynamic sound and cheerful songs were new to the team. At this, the Godfrey brothers completed joint work from Marty. The tour was held with another vocalist.
The 6th album, "DIVE DEEP", published in 2008, created with the participation of invited musicians and vocalists. Judge Tzuki, Thomas Dibdal, singer Manda and Raper Cool Calm Pete appeared. Already in 2010, Favorite the public Sky Edwards returned to the team, and the Blood Like Lemonade disk was recorded with her participation. He reminded about the time when the band had just started his way, and about those traditions that the founders were inspired.
In 2013, the musicians released the "Head Up High" album and said goodbye to Homfrey Paul, who began an independent career. Sky Edwards and Ross Godfrey continued cooperation.
Morcheeeba now
The discography of the musical ensemble entered the history of modern blues and jazz, since the sound of compositions remains consistently high-quality and harmonious. An album "Blaze Away" published in 2012 introduced the Morcheeba duet. Today, Sky and Ross continue to work together, speaking at the concert venues of clubs and thematic festivals.Hits of the "Otherwise" team, "Gimme Your Lov", "Enjoy the Ride" are still broadcast on different radio stations in Europe, America and Russia. Morcheeeba comes to Petersburg and Moscow with concerts, collecting fans of the first albums and experiments inherent in the modern composition of the group.
