The history of creation and composition

The founder of the group is Darren Haze, born in 1972 in Brisbane, Australia. From the young age he loved to sing and spoke not only at school concerts, but also in Musiclah Man of Steel and BYE BYE BIRDIE. Because of the addiction to the music, Haze did not receive higher education, throwing a university with the intention to become a professional performer. In 1993, he was caught by an advertisement in the Brisbane newspaper Time Off: Daniel Jones multi-instrumentalist searched for his group of vocalist. From this episode begins the history of the creation of the famous team.

On listening, Darren showed himself not the best way - his voice constantly broke away from excitement, but he was the only candidate, so Jones had to agree. The young group took the name Red Edge and began to perform at local concerts, later the performers joined them, forming a full-fledged bend. However, the teams of the team went wrong.

Daniel Jones

Daniel and Darren, by the time they found a common language and found a passion for independent composition of songs, decided to continue to act as a duet. Initially, they called themselves crush, but soon the name had to be changed, because it turned out that there was already a British group with the same name. Darren suggested Savage Garden - these words were taken from the novel Ann Rice "Vampire Chronicles".

Music

The debut album was recorded in 1995. The musicians made 150 copies and sent out to producers, the contacts of which managed to reach, only 1 person responded - John Woodraff, who had previously collaborated with Baby Animals. He agreed to take on managerial work and organized the guys a contract with Roadshow Music.

On July 1, 1996, Single I Want You was released, quickly coming to platinum status due to fresh and original sound. In just 2 weeks of presence in the Australian chait-parades, the song received the ARIA's Award. Behind it, followers 2 more hit - Truly Madly Deeply and To The Moon and Back, who saved in a huge circulation in the form of singles, and on the song Break Me Shake Me in 1997, a clip was removed.

In the US, the group became known thanks to the Guy Zapoleon radio consultant, who heard the music team at the conference in Australia and captured a copy of the albums for colleagues to his homeland. Soon Savage Garden songs have already sounded on 50 radio stations.

After the first success, the musicians received the right to choose a record company from several dozens of profitable proposals. The guys decided to cooperate with Columbia Records, and the label made copies of their albums for sales worldwide.

In 1998, the group went to the international tour, which covered the countries of Asia, Europe and America. In the same year, they reprinted their old album Savage Garden, adding a bonus CD The Future of Eartly Delites to him, and their producer Walter Afanasyeff for the promotion of the duet received the Grammy Prize.

In July 1996, Single I Want You came out, which immediately took off to the top of the Australian charts and brought a musical duet to the first award - the ARIA prize in the Breakthrough Artist nomination. Their second work to The Moon & BACK was no less successful and paid attention to the COLUMBIA RECORDS large studio, and the first Savage Garden full album broke all the national records.

Soon Savage Garden gained international popularity: their new Truly Madly Deeply ballad blew up American and European charts, and the team received the status of multiplatin. Revenues from sales of records made musicians very secured people, but money and glory did not combine them, but on the contrary, quickly led to the completion of the brilliant career.

Decay

It all started with the fact that Haze decided to move to New York and bought the apartments there. Jones preferred to stay in the old studio in his native Brisbane: he was not at all a tour of the travel, and the endless connectors and an interview was not tired of him.

Group

Cooperation of the guys did not end with this: they prepared the next album, constantly supporting communication by email and telephone, and for studio work reunited in the Australian Studio. The result was an affirmation album, which was noticeably different from the previous softer ballowing sounds. In just 2 weeks of sales, the album was admitted twice platinum, and after 2 months the circulation exceeded 4 million copies.

The musicians supported the album by the next world tour. For Savage Garden, the doors of the largest concert halls of the world opened open, they sang with Luciano Pavarotti and performed at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sydney. Unfortunately, the continuation did not follow - after Turn the interests of Daniel and Darren died finally. The speech in Cape Town on December 17, 2001 was the last for a duet.

The news of the decay turned out to be a surprise for Daniel himself: Darren did not discuss this issue personally with him, but reported this in an interview with The Courier-Mail, and in the end, Jones found out about the dissolution of his own group from the morning newspaper. The musician was guessed by that time that the future of the group was questioned, but did not expect him at all that he would be informed about it in this form, however, from public allegations and quarrels with a partner abstained.

After the collapse, Chase took up the solo career and the preparation of the Spin debut album. According to his style, his music resembled Savage Garden's work, but instead of a soft sound, he added R & B songs. Daniel's solo career was safely, but the representatives of the label were still dissatisfied with them, since they were calculated on the same sales volumes that the duet provided in full.

Daniel Jones and his wife Kathleen de Leon

Darren took up the production work and opened his label PowDered Sugar, whose first client became the Aneiki group created by him. Although Savage Garden never released the promised 3rd album, created for several years of collaboration, the musical material delivered a lot of joy to fans. In 2002 and 2003, the already broken group again received 3 APRA Awards awards, and their singles still beat the sales records and are present in world charts.

4 years after decay, the Best of Savage Garden Truly Madly Completely displays was released, which included selective selected hits. Present a collection of Darrenu was alone: Daniel flatly refused to participate in the compilation of the album and did not go to the tour in his support, but this did not affect sales of tickets and discs - in July 2006, the plaque became platinum.

Darren Haze and his husband Richard Cullen

Now both musicians live in London with their beloved. The wife of Daniel became the singer Katlin de Leon, the soloist of the group HI-5, and Darren in 2006 legalized her relationship with the boyfriend Richard Callen. Caming-Out Hayz took place in the early 2000s, with his chosen one, he had met for 2 years, and their joint photos often appeared in the media.
