Ildar South (Kurmayev) was born in Tushino, the district of Moscow, November 1, 1960. Although Ildar's parents were simple workers, the music in the family was given much attention. The southern pseudonym appeared in the artist's creative biography thanks to Sergey Burmistrov. An old friend suggested Ildar to take alternative last name, knowing that the colleague grew up on the songs of Arkady North. The similarity in the performing manner and a kind of symbolism creative people decided to beat.
In 1996, the Maryina Grove group released the first album. The plate was called "Black Kisa". The songs of "Chifire" and "fly, pigeons" were real hits. The first success pushed a group to continue creative activity, and already in 1997, the album "Boyar Domar" was on sale. Despite the high sales rates, it happened so that the group broke up.

The group began to perform with concerts and gastroes in the cities of Russia.
