Biography

The creativity of the avant-garde synth-pop duet Eurythmics is from the UK long before the Internet and Instagram era, "the musical charts of the whole world exploded. The group's compositions, in particular the sensational Sweet Dreams, do not lose their relevance and now that there are dozens of modern cover versions.

The history of creation and composition

The Eurythmics Creation History began in 1977, when Briton Dave Stewart together with his friend Peter Kums, who is a writer and performer of the songs, organized the pop group The Tourists.

Soon the guys decided to offer the cooperation of the Scottish student of the Royal Music Academy Annie Lennox, which she subsequently challenged in the team. In an educational institution, the girl learned the game on the keys and flute.

By that time, when the group began its existence in full, romantic relationships began between Dave and Annie. The TouristS group has released 2 passing albums far from high sales. The fact is that the musicians have a bad relationship with the label, which subsequently turned into litigation. In addition, participants could not find a common language among themselves, which led to the breakdown of the group.

The established professional difficulties affected the personal relationship between Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart - the couple was divided, which, however, did not prevent them from keeping the desire to create together and on. Thus, the duet The Eurythmics was formed.

The musicians of the creative tandem were immediately determined that the main principles of the group would be the uncompromising and lack of other participants (not counting the albums invited to record). In addition, Lennox and Stewart decided not to limit themselves with a stylistic framework - although they chose themselves a pop group, but in the future they planned to put musical experiments using electronic tools, yielding avant-garde influence.

Music

The producer of the group Eurythmics was Connie Planck, which before that collaborated with such popular rock bands as Neu! And Kraftwerk. The debut album records took part drummer Clem Berk, composer Yaki Listersight, Fleotist Tim Whita and Bass Guitarist Holger Shukai. Even despite the fact that such talented musicians, a cold and melancholic synth-pop recorder, a cold and melancholic synth-pop recorder, made hands, and listeners were pretty indifferent to create in the Garden.

However, Dave and Annie did not lower their hands - they made a bank loan and opened their own small recording studio, located above the Frame Frame Production Factory. Thus, the musicians allowed themselves to significantly keep the budget, going to pay for an expensive time in an outsider, and also calmly experiment with the sound.

In the tours they performed a strictly duet, applying a variety of electronic tools that helped recreate a full-scale sound. All the equipment young people were transported from the city to the city on their own. Such an exhausting work soon gave itself to know - in 1982, Annie Lennox survived the nervous breakdown, and Dave Stewart is a pulmonary disease.

A year after sad events, the second plate was headed by Sweet Dreams, which completely changed the attitude of the audience to Eurythmics. The title song of the same name, which came out his debut singles from the album, became an exceptional hit in Britain. In many respects, the success of the composition influenced a specific and closed video clip, in which a vocalist appeared with short hair painted in a bright orange color.

The popularity behind the ocean did not make himself wait for a long time - Sweet Dreams climbed to the tops of the American charts, and the photo of Annie Lennox with the same hairstyle, as in the clip, decorated the cover of the glossy magazine Rolling Stone. Dave Stewart told in one of the interviews that a popular bass part, which instantly became the main feature of the song, was created by chance - during the rewind of the other track of the group.

In 1984, Eurythmics released the third plate, which was given the name Touch. The album was taken by critics and listeners are welcome, as well as the previous one. Three main hits of steel songs HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN, WHO'S THAT GIRL? And Right by Your Side, and the video clips shot on them for a long time were broadcast on the MTV music TV channel. At the same time, the team recorded a soundtrack for a film based on the novel-anti-nightopy of the writer George Orwell "1984".

Another year later, the musicians recorded a new album called Be Yourself Tonight. This time, Dave and Annie decided to experiment on the sound and expand the boundaries with the usual music. The songs from the 4th album of the group sounds bass guitar, live shock and spiritual section.

And among those invited to record the compositions of popular musicians - Stevie Wonder and Michael Kaimen. In addition, 2 duets were represented on the new record - with Elvis Kostello and Artwork Franklin. The album was having delighted, the most important hit was the song There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart).

In 1986, Eurythmics released Revenge, who, although at one time, did not make too much noise, but became the most-selling plate of the collective. In this period of time, the group participants began to gradually go beyond the work framework only in Duet - Lennox began to study acting skills, and Stewart - producing.

Despite permanent employment, the musicians announced the release of the new record exactly in time - as before, exactly one year after the release of the latter. In Savage, Annie and Dave sounded in a new way - gloomy and almost completely with electronic music, as the disk was far from commerce. Texts have become more personal and deep. According to Lennox, it is in this way that its group should sound in the original. The movie the same name included video clips to each composition from the album.

Decay of the group Eurythmics

WE TOO ARE ONE, released in 1989, has become the last Eurythmics record before decaying. Even though the pair of singles along the tradition climbed into the most tops of the musical charts, it was obvious to sound that the team members exit.

And no accident - for 8 years of the existence of the collective, their discography has grown to 8 albums, which could not but affect personal relations inside the duet. Annie Lennox spoke in the first break - she wanted to take a vacation to conceive and give birth to a child, and also think about what she wants to do outside the group. Stuart did not mind. Thus, former colleagues practically did not communicate from 1990 to 1998.

On the soil of the death of a common friend Annie and Dave, the musician of Pita Kums, the creative pair resumed the interaction again and released a new PEACE album after 10 years. The plate reached the 4th place in the English music chart. And in 2005, a collection of the best compositions of Eurythmics called Ultimate Collection with two new songs dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the synth-pop group.
