The story "And the dawns here is quiet ..." Writer Boris Vasilyev first published in the literary journal youth in the summer of 1969. According to the author, the basis of the story was the real episode that occurred during World War II. Seven soldiers who served in the Kirov railway prevented an explosion on their own plot, which was preparing a group of German diversants. The soldiers acted on a personal initiative, without the order from above, and this inspired Boris Vasilyev. Alive from the group only the commander remained, who later received a medal.
The writer began working on the story, but soon realized that such episodes were massive during the war, men in the war demonstrate the strength of the Spirit in the will of the circumstances, and there is nothing unusual. Vasiliev realized that from a private event there would not be a good work, and decided to replace the soldiers in the text with young women. It was already a fundamentally new approach.
