Since the beginning of the 90s of the 20th century, the growth of the national identity of young people and its interest in ethnic roots are celebrated in different parts of the Earth. Rock musicians used this trend and created compositions and albums based on pre-Christian mythology. In Northern Europe, a bright representative of Ethno-Rock is the Swedish group "Amon Amarth", in the music of which hears the ringing of Viking swords, and the texts refer to the Scandinavian epic.The history of creation and composition
In 1992, in the suburb of Stockholm Vocalist Johan Hegg and guitarists Olavi Mikkkonen and Anders Hansson united to create a team playing melodic death metal.
First, the group wore an obscene name "scum", and the name that the team is wearing now means "Rock Mountain" and refers to John Tolkina's works. The guys did not immediately appealed to the legends of the Vikings, but when the first compositions were composed, they saw that pagan myths were perfectly combined with music.

In November 2017, the video game Hammer of the North ("The Hammer of the North") was published on the texts of Amon Amarth and the plot conflicts of the eponymous series. The group repeatedly mildered the wonderful hammer of God Tora Mielnir, causing thunder and zipper, and on the song "Mjölner Hammer of Thor" shot the clip in which the pagan deity welcomes musicians.
