Childhood and youth

Gerhard Richter was born on February 9, 1932. Painting

Gerhard created the gray imitation of "photo images" "Ghostly interceptors" and "Motor Boat", which are still considered one of its most revolutionary and well-known early works. This style of painting was born from the merger of traditional methods of drawing with pictures published in the newspapers, and the technique of creating paintings was projected into the canvas of selected photos, followed by a blurred brush or mop.

At that time, he lived and worked in Cologne, where he created a stained glass window of 11.5 thousand squares for the famous Roman Catholic Gothic Cathedral. Personal life

Shortly before the construction of the Berlin Wall, Richter was combined with a marriage with a woman named Marianna, who became a prototype for the cult painting "Ema", also known as the "Woman descending on the stairs". She dedicated to her the "Iceberg" cannon, written after the divorce in 1981. In this relationship, the artist was born a daughter, captured later on the "Betty" picture of the same name.
