Metal group from Portugal Moonspell characterizes its music as a devilish. Until the moment of its formation in this country, few people have heard about Portuguese Metal, but with the advent of musicians the situation has changed. Previously, they did not believe in their success, and now the team with gloomy songs is famous outside the native state.The history of creation and composition
The history of MOONSPELL has begun from the failed group called Archangel. This project was not developed, and in 1992, renamed Moonspell, Vocalist Fernanda Ribeiru with guitarists and drummers begin to rehearse in the building of the city council of their native village of Brando.
For all the existence of the group, its composition has repeatedly changed. Vocalist Fernanda Ribeiru remained the only permanent member of Moonspell. The current guitarist Ricardo Amorim joined musicians in 1995, and Miguel Gashpar drummer replenished the team's ranks 3 years before him.
Pedro Paiyshau, who plays keyboards and guitar, began to speak with guys from 1994. And the most latter came to them the bass guitarist Aresh Pereira, it happened in 2004.
Music
Soon after the base, the Moonspell group appeared the first song with the name "The Fever", the musicians recorded the Demo "Serpent Angel". It is this composition that played a decisive role in their further development. The creativity of novice artists noted the representatives of the MTM label and invited the guys to participate in the recording of the collection of Portuguese metal groups.Over time, they concluded a contract with Adipocere Records, and when their first EP "Under the Moonspell" came out, the musicians appeared before the listeners as black-metal collective with a noticeable folk presence. From this point on, the success of the guys sharply increased, they began to invite a metal superstar to heating.
CENTURY MEDIA SUPPORT STUDIO offers artists to conclude an agreement. On this label, the debut full-format plate was released, called "Wolfheart". An even greater success of the musicians brought the "IRRELIGIOUS" disk. At the hit "Opium" they took the clip on the streets of Lisbon. The execution of the criticism track was rated high, and the video was even broadcast on European television.
In 1997, Moonspell discussed the Mini-album "Second Skin", the DEPECHE MODE track called "Sacred" entered it. And already on the next plates, the team was not afraid to experiment with the sound, but the fans perceived elements of electronic music in their songs ambiguously.
After some time, they stopped relations with the past label and signed a contract with SPV / Steamhammer to record 3 disks. In 2006, the musicians presented the MEMORIAL record with the public, which was headed by the famous Chart in Portugal. And a year later, the Collection "The Great Silver Eye" came out, containing the best songs of the group created for all the time. At the same time, the musicians presented the album "Under Satanæ", which includes the old Moonspell tracks, reprinted from 1992-1994.
Another plate Alpha Noir has replenished the discography of musicians in 2012. Work on it in the studio was engaged in Madsen. And in 2015, fans enjoyed the new "extinct" disk, published on the label Napalm Records.
Then the musicians noted that their next album would differ in sound from the past and remind the listeners about the "Gothic roots" of the group. And indeed, in 2017 Moonspell represents a plate called "1755", songs with which are devoted to the earthquake that occurred in Lisbon is that year.
Moonspell now
Group and now continues to tour and regularly represents fans new songs.
On the upcoming events, the musicians notify the fans in "Instagram", in addition to information about the performances, there is a lot of photos from the concerts of the team.
All summer and autumn 2019, the musicians devoted the tour in support of the record "1755".
