Biography

Lacuna Coil are an Italian group of performing songs in genres alternative metal and Gothic. In the last years of existence, the creative team made serious advancing towards the development of the European Rock Market. By 2019, there were already 8 studio records in their discography, and the musicians are not going to stop on the achieved.

The history of creation and composition

The history of the Creating Italian Gothic Ensemble Lacuna Coil began in 1994 in Milan. Prior to this, the group was known in narrow circles under the names of Sleep of Right and Ethereal.

Despite the fact that the composition of the participants periodically changed, a constant trio remained at the heart: Kristina Skabby vocalist, Andrea Ferro vocalist, and Bass Gitarist Marco Coti Jelty. Beginner musicians recorded a demo from 2 tracks, which brought a contract with a German label Century Media in May 1996.

When the release of the first mini-album was released, which produced Waldemar Soricht, a young team called Gothic Bon Jovi with female vocals. Lacuna Coil themselves described their own music as "gloomy-dreamest."

Before issuing a full-fledged plate, in December 1997, the group went to the European tour with Portuguese colleagues on the Moonspell stage. However, Leonardo Forti, Rafael Zagaria, Claudio Leo played only 3 concerts, after which they announced their care.

A truly bright biography of Lacuna Coil started after their participation in the famous German Wacken festival at the end of the summer of 1998. It happened before starting the entry of the debut studio album in a reverie. Christine Cabbia came to the rescue musicians and performers from other rock bands and made them together with her.

The next year brought creative prospects to the team after a new guitarist named Marco Biazzi joined them. Shortly thereafter, the talented guys went on tour in continental Europe, giving concerts together with the Skyclad group of origin from England.

In addition, Lacuna Coil stood at the head of the May show Into The Darkness in parallel with Grip Inc, Samael and My Insanity. Returning home, the group also took part in the Gods of Metal show, whose invited stars were legendary Metallica.

Music

At the beginning of the new Millennium, Lacuna Coil returned with the new EP Halflife, which entered the Caver-version of the hit belonging to the English group Dub Star. The team gained an near-theater status, so the high number of European concerts, on which they performed as chadliners were provided.

The Gothic Group announced the beginning of a monthly tour of North America as invited stars along with Killswitch, Engagein Flames and Santhenced. The first concert was held in San Francisco on September 16. However, Lacuna Coil on the nose was the grandilan release of the second studio record, called Comalies, so the musicians preferred to abandon performances in favor of completing the album.

The presentation of the new disk was held in 2002. And before that, the musicians shared with the Single fans called Heaven's a Lie, which largely influenced the team to become one of the brightest stars among the modern gothic scene.

In support of the new plate in January 2003, the Group announced the start of the North American tour, nicknamed 4 Absent Friends Tour, which was attended by Tapping The Vein, Opeth and Paradise Lost. However, the team was forced to abandon the speeches in connection with the problems in the visa center.

The clip on the Heaven's A Lie composition was massively broadcast on German television, so Lacuna Coil was headed by European and, in particular, Italian hit parades, which also included groups such as Poisonblack, Moonspell and Passenger. In March and April 2004, the group went to an expanded tour of native Italy.

Returning to North America, the musicians found that the local sales of Comalies album exceeded the mark of 100 thousand copies, so the team went to the US tour, starting with a concert in Denver, Colorado, which started on May 1, 2004. Together with this event, the premiere of SWAMPED single, which entered the soundtrack to the fantastic film "Resident Evil: Apocalypse".

In July of the same year, it became known that Comalies became the best-selling album according to the Century Media label and in general on the Italian rock scene. This affected the fact that the record appeared in the Billboard Chart in 194th. Over the first week, it was sold out in the amount of about 6 thousand copies.

Gothic group that began to gain popularity, declared the release of the long-awaited plate Karmacode in the early 2006. According to the participants of the team, such a large delay of his presentation was related to the fact that the work took a long time, as well as with the desire to wait for the stream of the summer of the 2005 albums of other metal groups and thereby noticed.

One of the compositions with the new plate called Our Truth first published as a single and entered the soundtrack to the movie "Another World: Evolution", and the video version of this song was broadcast on the MTV television channel. At about the same time, a few more clips of the musical group on tracks such as With Me, Our Truth, Closer and Enjoy The Silence, which is a camp. The first DVD with a live concert and the photo gallery of Lacuna Coil called Visual Karma (Body, Mind and Soul) was released in November 2008.

In an interview with the Rock Sound magazine, Kristina Skabbia team announced that their fifth studio record would produce Don Gilmore. According to her, the new disk was distinguished from all that the group did earlier, while the sound characteristic of them was preserved. But the compositions definitely turned out to be more powerful, complete, saturated and concrete.

An interesting fact was that the new work of Lacuna Coil was partly affected by Arab music. SHALLOW LIFE presentation took place on April 20, 2009 in Europe and the next day in the United States of America.

At the beginning of the fall of 2011, it became known that the debut single from the 6th record will be entitled to Trip The Darkness. After 3 years, a new album was released, called Dark Adrenaline. One of the famous compositions on it was the song Kill The Light.

In September 2013, the participants of Lacuna Coil announced the start of the creation of a new musical work, which Jay Bogardner became producing. The seventh record of the Gothic team called Broken Crown Halo appeared on the shelves of stores on April 1 in North America.

On February 14 of next year, it became known that the Rock Group leave the Mozzah drummer and guitarist Millor after 16 years of coordinated work. Personal motives were caused. Soon after that, the team was replenished with Drick Ryan Foldden.

On May 27, 2016, the presentation of the new album Lacuna Coil was held, which was recorded in the Milan Studio and was sprinkled by the bassist of the Mark Zhelty group. The plate received the name Delirium. A few months before that, the guitarist Marco Biazzi declared his caring from the musical group. In his place during the recording of compositions for the eighth studio disk, guest guitarists rose.

Now there is no confirmed information about the release of the new musical record of the Italian metal group Lacuna Coil, the participants continue to drive around with concerts in different countries of the world. In Russia, they were the last time in May 2017.
