Despite the fact that the pop group SMASH !! It lasts only 6 years old, she received a cult status both in Russia and abroad. Participants in Duet Vlad Topalov and Sergey Lazarev literally woke up famous, being very young, they won love of adolescents in two bills.The guys preferred to work in the European format and execute songs in English, thereby seeking to enter the world level.
The group in a short time has won a large number of honored musical awards, such as the Golden Gramophone, "Muz-TV Award", "New Wave" and others. The pop duet recorded 3 albums and released 6 video clips, after which it was broken, which became a shock for thousands of faithful fans.
The history of creation and composition
The history of the creation of a collective takes its beginning in 2000. Businessman and musical producer Mikhail Topalov at the beginning of the new Millennium decided to create a vocal team called Smash !!, which is a duet of two adolescent guys: Vlad Topalova is 15 years old, who is his native son, and Sergey Lazareva is 17 years old. The young men who became part of the group were familiar with childhood, sang in the studio theater "Fidget" and were friends with the first minute of dating.
The idea of creating a project came to a man when he first heard how harmoniously the votes of Vlad and Sergey together. The fact is that his spouse decided to make a gift to Mikhail Herrichovich for his birthday and offered boys to write a joint composition of Belle from the legendary musical "Notre Dame de Paris", whose fan was her husband.
Vlad Topalov recalled in one of the interviews that at first they with Lazarev tried to record the version of the song in English, since they did not understand the words in French. However, the young men were quite soon realized that the real aria should only sound in the musical language, and turned to the original execution of the BELLE composition. The result turned out to be stunning.
Having heard a new interpretation of the classic French track on the air of one of the radio stations, the General Director of the Label Universal Music Russia David Dzhank seriously became interested in cooperation with the Pop Duet participants. The man gave listen to the musical material Simon Naper-Bella, who also struck by Lazarev's vocal data and Topalov. So the smash group was formed !!.
Music
In April 2002, the first appearance of SMASH took place !! On the air of television channels and radio stations, immediately producing a real extension in circles of the musical public. The shooting of the first clip of the pop group on the song Should Have Loved You More passed in Thailand and, according to the guys, they brought them a lot of pleasure.The track learned by heart and constantly sang everything - from small children to pensioners, and Vlad and Sergey at that time did not know how to get off from regular proposals to take part in a particular event that came daily. The composition called "Prayer" has gained no less popular.
In the second half of the summer of 2002. SMASH !! They became the participants of the international competition of young executors "New Wave", annually passing in Jurmala, where the honorable 1st place occupied. The pop duet was among the 6 contestants from Russia and together with other 15 participants proved their right to a large scene.
Under the conditions of the competition organizers, each contender for the victory was to take out 3 compositions from their own or someone else's repertoire - one for every competitive day. First Sergey and Vlad performed a song "You will wake me up at dawn" composer Alexei Rybnikova from the rock opera "Juno and Avos."
On the second day, the guys presented a well-known Belle from the Musical Notre-Dame de Paris. And the third competitive speech SMASH !! was marked by the execution of the new track Talk to Me, immediately became hit. The song was so struck by the public that each member of the jury raised the highest estimate equal to 10 points.
The pop group became the unconditional leader of the "New Wave - 2002", taking the main prize - a traditional crystal statuette in the form of a wave (which was subsequently crashed during the wires of the duet to Moscow, which came to a large cluster of the people) and $ 20 thousand.
Together with the release of the first single Should Have Loved You More and the victory in Jurmala, it became obvious that it was Belle who should become a second song that will enter the long-awaited debut plate of the Smash group !!. The shooting process of the video clip on a popular composition took place in August 2002 in one of the Pavilions "Mosfilm". The director of the roller was the director and actor Fyodor Bondarchuk.
The BELLE clip is made in a fantasy genre: according to the scenario, the entire action is also unfolding on the set of a certain video, but only in the distant future. The futuristic service character in the clip was the girls and boys of the Mongoloid race, and the role of the guards of the SMASH group !! African Americans performed.
Vlad and Sergey in the desire to observe the contrast stylists have dressed in elegant costumes: a white suit got a white costume, and the brunette Lazarev is black. The clip has not descended from the vertices of the music charts of the MTV Russia television channels for several weeks.
Next was followed by preparing for the release of a debut album, the record of which took place in the best recording studios of London, New York, Paris and Los Angeles. Despite the busy schedule of guys (they managed to combine study, concert activities and work in the theater), their main task was to complete the work on the record. Thanks to such purposefulness, SMASH participants !! Received the status of the world superstar.
March 2003 was marked by the long-awaited release of the debut pop-duet album, called Freeway. The plate has become popular not only in the homeland of young men, in Russia, but also in the CIS countries and Southeast Asia. The album received the status of platinum and survived 2 reissues.
In this and next year smash !! I persistently filed an application for participation in the Eurovision International Song Competition. After the national selection, which has passed in 2004, the information that the Smash group was penetrated into the media. It is honored to represent Russia in the competition, but the first channel is literally at the last moment officially denied this assumption.
Sergey Lazarev, commenting on the situation, said that they were given a guarantee that the duet would go to Eurovision in 2003 with the Talk to Me. Because of this, they changed their creative plans, canceled several touring tours. Next came the news that the pop group T.a.t.u will go to the competition, which is at that time at the peak of popularity in Europe.
The following year, such a story happened: Lazarev with Topalov changed the graphs of their concerts, prepared a new song called obsession, which was going to present to Eurovision 2004. And in the end, Russia presented the performer of pop music Yulia Savicheva, whose candidacy has become a complete surprise for both musicians and the public.
In December 2004, the second album of the group called 2NITE and, as it turned out, the last, in which both vocalists took part in the record. Immediately after the presentation of the record, the information that the duo collapsed was publicly available and official.
Collapse of the collective
The reason for the decay was the scandalous departure from the team of Sergey Lazarev. Leaving the Smash group !!, the guy promised to fulfill its obligations registered in the Universal label contract. According to the legal document, the participants of the musical team must have been required to produce at least 3 plates.
Despite this, by the time of the disintegration of the duet, the public heard only 2 of their albums. After some time, Lazarev decided to decide to refuse to fulfill the terms of the contract, so the 3rd disk called Evolution had to record Vlad Topalov independently.
After an unexpected and scandalous collapse SMASH !! Former participants in the group did not communicate for a long time. In the summer of 2005, Mikhail Topalov handed over the direct leadership of the Ego Works group. For a long time, Sergey Lazarev continued to interview various media, which explained why he had to leave the Smash duet !!
