November 13, 2019 it became known that Ashot Balic was shot dead. It happened in the evening near the athlete's house. He lived in Moscow on Nakhimovsky Prospect. Witnesses of how Ashot was killed, there was no place on the spot, according to the investigators, they shot the arms with the silencer. The criminal quickly disappeared from the place of attack, the body of the ex-champion discovered a local resident who parked his car at home.
On the fact of the murder and illegal turnover of weapons, employees of the Chief Investigation Department opened a criminal case. Representatives of law enforcement agencies immediately began to investigate and establish a person who committed murder.

Relatives argue that Ashot was a good and sociable person, and therefore they do not see the reasons for such a crime.
