Biography

History of the creation of Panic! AT The Disco (short P! ATD) originates in 2004 in Las Vegas. At first it was a quartet, and now - only Brandon Uri: vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Significant changes over time has undergone not only the composition of the group, but also sound: if the guys inspired the Beatles and The Beach Boys at the beginning of the way, then today's Panic! AT The Disco is a unique, not similar to anything at the same time.

The history of creation and composition

The biography of P! ATD begins with an interesting fact: Brandon Uri was invited to the group last.

School friends Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith since the 9th grade played together, one on the guitar, the other on the drums. Over time, the bassist Brent Wilson and Guitarist Trevor Howell joined them. The group wore Summer League name.

Howell spent in Summer League just a week, and then the group began searching for a guitarist. Helped a cap acquaintance with Brandon Uri, who studied at another school. The guy was brought up in the family of Mormons and because of the trips to the church often missed rehearsals. But he skillfully applied to the instrument, in addition, there was no other applicant for the role of a guitarist at Summer League.

Ross was the "voice" Summer League until the guys were heard on one of the rehearsals, as Uri sings. Vocal data struck the musicians so much that they have given the role of vocalist to him without any questions. Looking at the head of the group, Uri changed the name on Panic! AT The Disco. In later interview, the musicians claim that they received a name in honor of the song "Panic" The Smiths, but in fact it is a line from the name Taken timeline.

For the sake of music, the guys had to sacrifice many, for example, education. Ross largely quarreled with his father, when she announced a desire to quit college, and Uri rose at all from home. He lived with friends until she accumulated his own apartment for rent. In the early stages P! ATD shared a rehearsal base with dozens of groups that played in the genre of the Dat metal.

The first demo - "Time to Dance", "Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks" and "Camisado" - Ross and Uri were loaded onto the free portal PureVolume. Jokes for the sake of friends sent recording Pitu Venta, which as part of Fall Out Boy recorded the album "From Under the Cork Tree" in Los Angeles. And the musician, contrary to the expectations of P! ATD, read their message and went for 400 km to meet young dating.

Multiple songs performed live, enough for Ventsz offered P! ATD to conclude a contract with his decaydance label. The transaction took place in December 2004. Ventents selflessly pianil musicians: Woven a T-shirt with the inscription PETE! At the Disco, and at a press conference before MTV Video Music Awards in 2005 announced the release of the debut album P! ATD "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out", which "will be your favorite record".

Music

In June 2005, P! ATD moved to College Park, Maryland to record the album. The work was carried out without days off for 12-14 hours a day for 5.5 weeks. Resting accounted for in the cheap room, the interior of which was two bunk beds. In such conditions, the degree between the guys was heating: according to Ross, they were inflicted by each other's ideas simply because "someone ate someone else's flakes."

Nevertheless, in frequent quarrels and creative clashes, it was possible to create "a Fever You Can't Sweat Out". Audio album is divided into two halves: the first mainly consists of an electronic dance punk, and the second is from piano ballad. Despite the fact that the musicians only graduated from school, in the songs they rises exclusively "adults" themes: inviolability of marriage, marital treason, mental health, alcoholism and prostitution.

"A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" came out in September 2005 and first sold very slowly: in the first week there are only 10 thousand copies. The situation has fixed the clip to one of the most famous hits P! ATD "I Write Sins Not Tragedies". In the second week, the album bought more than 500 thousand times. Now this release is recognized three times platinum in the USA - sales exceeded 3 million copies.

In May 2006, P! ATD reported that Brent Wilson bassist is no longer part of their team. On the reasons of rupture, the musicians did not apply, but presented a new member of John Walker. Next month, Wilson told MTV News that he was expelled from the group by phone:

"They did not even say that they regret."

In response to this P! ATD wrote a letter to the editorial office of MTV News, which explained that they said goodbye to the bassist, "based on the irresponsibility of the Brent and the fact that he did not progress on the music plan." The bassist threatened former friends to the court, but did not come to that.

The tour in support of the debut album The Nothing Rhymes with Circus Tour started in November 2005. Speeches P! ATD accompanied clowning in execution 6 people: acrobats, surrowing techniques, clowns. Journalist from The New York Times so treated the show:

"There is something charming in monitoring a group that helps to navigate in the unexpected success of the acrobats, dancers and clowns."

The second studio album P! ATD wrote twice: when the material was ready more than half, the musicians refused him and started again. The result was "Pretty. ODD. " (2008), inspired by the Beatles. The disk took off to the 2nd place in the US Billboard 200. On the first day of the American release, more than 54 thousand copies were repaid, 139 thousand copies were reached.

P! ATD abandoned the "clown" style of tour and added naturalness: trees, projections of flora and fauna served decorations, microphone racks decorated with flowers and berries. Musicians themselves dressed in vests like The Beatles. One of the concerts lay down the "live" album "... Live in Chicago" (2008). The disc contains a photo from the tour, video performances, a short film "Panic! AT The Disco in: American Valley »And the documentary about the stoken" All In A Day's ".

On July 6, 2009, Ross and Walker announced that they leave the group. Creative disagreements were caused: Uri took the group in the pop direction, and the guys wanted to create rock in retro style. Their place officially occupied Dalun Wicks.

In such a composition - vocalist and guitarist Uri, Basist Wicks and drummer Smith - P! ATD created the album "Vices & Virtues" (2011), which is considered passing in the group's discography. The most famous track is perhaps "memories". Concerts in the framework of Vices & Virtues Tour have acquired former theatricality.

"I love to arrange big ideas. I recently read about the coils of the Tesla and now I am trying to figure out how you can use them safely: so that they are metallic lightning, but did not parsing anyone in the hall, "said Uri.

"Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!" (2013) is the first album of the group, which is perceived as a solo project Uri, which is not. Smith still played the drums, and the Wicks on the guitar, but in the clips, for example, only a frontman appeared.

So, in the movie on the song "Girls / Girls / Boys", which is dedicated to free love, the leader P! ATD appeared naked (in version 18+ - surrounded by half-naked girls). "Nicotine" suffered from love for the deceased girl, attachment to which is similar to the habit of smoking. And in This Is Gospel, Uri fought for life, but lost.

By the way, the clip on the "This Is Gospel" is part of the video tutorial. Fans P! ATD suggest that the sequence of history is as follows: "Say Amen (Saturday Night)" from the Album "Pray for the Wicked", "This is Gospel" and "Emperor's New Clothes" from the Death Of A Bachelor Plate. Together a video look like a short hosted film.

Before tour in support "Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!" From the group "Own" Smith. In an open letter for fans, he admitted that he suffers from alcohol and medicinal dependence since the time "Pretty. ODD. "So he needs time to compete for health. In response, Uri noted:

"I'm not waiting for Smith to spend a couple of days at rehabilitation, and then go to the tour. Therefore, tours will continue without Spencer while he will receive assistance in which it needs. "

In an interview with Pure Fresh magazine in September 2014, the frontman P! ATD reported that the 5th album mark already there, but he does not know what kind of material sells: as a solo performer or under the Panic brand! AT The Disco. As a result, "Death Of A Bachelor" (2016) came out of the group. He was presented in 35 countries, including in Russia.

Once in an interview with Uri admitted that I would like to shoot a clip for each song from this album. There are 6 songs from 11: "Victorious", "Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time", "Hallelujah", "Emperor's New Clothes", "Death Of A Bachelor", "La Devotee".

PRAY FOR THE WICKED (2018) is the peak of the creative implementation of Brandon Uri. Many songs from the album are devoted to success: "High Hopes", "Hey Look Ma, I Made IT", "(Fuck a) Silver Lining." In some clips, instead of the leader P! ATD, his doll similarity named Bibo appeared. For example, in the "Hey Look Ma, I Made IT" Bibo takes drugs, engaged in erratic sexual bonds, gets involved in fights, in general, rolls on the bottom. So Uri wanted to show the opposite side of popularity.

PRAY FOR THE WICKED was headed by Canadian, American and British Billboard, led to Australia. As of June 2019, more than 1 million copies of the album sold in the United States.

Panic! At the discco now

In April 2019, the tour was completed in support of Pray for the Wicked. It included 83 shows on North, South and Latin America, Europe, Oceania, Asia. About the past concerts P! ATD is told not only in "Instagram", but also on the official "YouTube" -Kanal.

Among the upcoming speeches - Music Midtown Festivals, Firefly Music Festival and Rock in Rio.

In April 2019, a clip was released on the song "ME" Taylor Swift, the couple of which was Brandon Uri. Therefore, many fans are experiencing about the future P! ATD as a group. Perhaps the musician will still decide to become a solo performer. However, he actively pianite new musicians: Drummer Dan Pavlovich and Bassist Nicole Row.
