Korpiklaani managed to conquer not only the Finnish folk metal scene, but also the world. Musicians perform powerful and brutal havi metal, organically mixed with the traditional musical culture of the Sami and Finnish peoples. The official history of the Finnish rock team begins with 2003. Until that time since 1993, the founders of the project Jonne Yvel and Maaren Aikio played in the Lapland restaurant. Since 1997, participants have changed the name, and in 2003 Maaren left the duet. Then Jonne collected new musicians and created Korpiklaani.
Translated from Finnish the name of the group means "forest clan". The composition consists of two guitarist, bass guitarist, violinist, bayanist and drummer. The team was formed in the city of Lahti, where he gave the first performances.
Music
The first compositions submitted to the public were popular. The musicians caught the right moment when the cultural trends were eclectic combinations. The combination of lyrical traditional folk music with powerful elements of heavy rock, texts filled with the motifs of ancient myths, seemed to the public with impressive and received high assessments of musical critics.The Debut Album "Sprit of the Forest" was published in the fall of 2003. The connoisseurs of rock so liked the mysterious worlds created in the songs of the team, and the original sound that the project participants began to intensively collect material for the next record. The second album was published in 2005 and received the name "Voice of Wilderness".
On the wave of success, next year, Finnish musicians presented the fans a third plate and went to the first tour of Europe. In 2006, the team was invited to speak at the popular rock festival Wacken Open Air, and in 2007, Metholders were pleased with the next album fans.
The Keep On Gallopping Composition from the fifth disk Korpiklaani has become a hit and the bully of the group of the group. Bright, spectacular video with ironic plot had to be published in the soul. Without losing the usual pace, in 2009 the Finns again give fans a new plate, and after 2 years - one more. Throughout creativity, the musicians do not change the selected direction, retain a recognizable and unique style of execution.
To the exit of the eighth studio album "Manala" the sound content of the compositions becomes more saturated, and the texts are poetic. Musicians think over the concept in which songs associate with each other motifs. "Manal" is, according to the ancient Finns, the afterlife. When creating compositions to the record, the project participants turned to the texts of Kalevaly, the monument of the Finnish epic.
In 2016, a video representing a group performance at the Live At Masters of Rock in the Czech Republic was published on DVD. The disk gave the team fans the opportunity to see how their idols are played outside the studio, as the group sounds "live", as the musicians behave on stage. The Korpiklaani participants in the interview noted that the video is proud of, as it is visible to work with all the advantages and disadvantages.

The breakthrough in the work of the team was the album of 2018 "Kulkija". It includes 14 tracks - more than it was in each of the previous discs of Finnish metalwors. The cover of the album was created by designer Yang Yurland, who was previously collaborating with Battle Beast and Manowar. As the basis, Yang chose a real photo, imprinuable landscapes of Finland. In 2019, the team continues to give concerts and is working on a new album. Musicians retain loyalty to the genres of folk metal and yoyk.
