The history of the creation of the team originates in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland. His first participants were Vocalist Gary Lightbody, Drummer Michael Morrison and Guitarist Mark McCléland. They called the Shrug group and began to perform at student parties. A year later released the mini-album "The Yogurt VS. Yogurt Debate.
In 1996, the name of the group was changed to PolarBear to avoid copyright problems. At this time, the composition has changed, and Johnny Quinn came to the change of Michael Morrison. Participants released the second mini-album "Starfighter Pilot".
After the conflict with another team, the name was finally changed to Snow Patrol.
Music
In 1997, the musicians began to cooperate with independent Jeepster label. Soon they moved to Glasgow and created the Debut Album "Songs for Polarbears". It was not commercially successful, but attracted attention to the participants who concluded a contract with Philips. Their second record, "WHEN IT'S ALL OVER WE STILL Have to Clear Up" was highly appreciated by critics, but also poorly sold.Snow Patrol began to work more and tour, but the music classes did not bring enough profits. It was a difficult time for participants. They lost a contract with Jeepster label, and Gary Lightbodi had to sell a collection of records to get money to support the group. Despite the difficulties, the musicians did not have thoughts about the collapse of the team. Moreover, the team was replenished with guitarist Nathan Connolly.
Thanks to university dating, the group managed to start cooperation with the Fiction label. They released the album "Final Straw", the main single of which was the song "Run". The composition entered the top 10 British charts, which brought long-awaited popularity to musicians.
In 2005, Boyz-Bend took two new participants - the keyboard player Tom Simpson and Basist Paul Wilson, who replaced the brand of McCleld because of disagreements. In this composition, they recorded the album "Eyes Open". The "Chasing Cars" composition was used as a soundtrack for the "Anatomy Gray" serial and was nominated for the Grammy Award. The plate has become a sales leader in the UK.
However, against the background of success, the group experienced difficult times. Soloist Gary Lightbodi got sick, because of what they had to postpone the tour and part of the concerts. But on this problems did not end. Part of the speeches did not take place due to the threat of terrorist attacks in the UK and the bassist injury.
After that, the participants took a break and began to prepare for the record of a new album. The release of the record "A HUNDRED MILLION SUNS" took place in October 2008. At this time, the musicians acted on heating from such stars as Oasis and Coldplay, and also released a clip to the single "Take Back The City".
Noting 15 years since the founding day, Snow Patrol decided to change a little sound. They invited Johnny McDead as a new musician and the author of the songs, after which they began work on the next album. In November 2011, the result of joint work was issued - "Fallen Empires".
In the following years, the performers took a break in the records of songs and released only one collection. They said goodbye to Tom Simpson and began cooperation with the Polydor Records label. In 2018, discography was replenished with a new album "Wildness".
Snow Patrol now
In 2019, the Group released a mini-album "reworked", consisting of new versions of songs. In addition, the performers were preparing for the Legend Award, the presentation of which was held in Belfast in Belfast.
