The vocalist was born in the winter of 1966 in the small English town of Newton-le-Willoos, located between Liverpool and Manchester. Mother played on the piano, and father - the owner of the gardening business - sang perfectly. Even before the birth of Rick, his brother died of meningitis.

The Debut Album Estley Whenever You Need Somebody, for which the guy wrote 4 songs as a composer, came out in 1987. The most popular composition of the Togener Forever collection in 1988 took 2nd place in the British charts. In December 1989, Estley gave concerts in 15 countries, including the United States, Australia and Japan.
By the time the 4th album, Rick was disappointed in the music industry and focused on the family. One of the compositions of the Keep IT Turned ON collection, recorded by Estley after returning to creativity, - Sleeping - became a club hit thanks to the remixam DJ Todda Terry.
In 2008, the singer was awarded the MTV Prize "the best performer of all time," but Rick did not appear on the presentation.
