The history of the creation of the collective originates in 2016 in Seoul, South Korea. The group was formed thanks to Duble Kick Entertainment, which launched the Finding Momoland reality show on the MNET TV channel. As a result of the auditions, 7 people entered the future team. The leader became Hybin.
Initially, the debut was scheduled for the end of summer, but it had to be postponed to prepare participants to performances and meetings with fans. Even before the official appearance on the scene, girls were chosen as ambassadors of the International Organization for Assistance in the Development of Korea.
Music
Momoland declared themselves during M! Countdown. They presented a mini-album called Welcome to Momoland and performed the JJan Koong Kwang composition. The artists repeated the performance during the filming of the Dorama "Liar and his lover" where episodic roles played.Soon 2 more girls joined participants. Daisy was selected during the Finding Momoland, but dropped out before the main composition was formed. And tha also sang in the team Produce 101.
After this, the maiden group performed on The Show with the single Wonderful Love. The song has become part of the second mini album Freeze!, But the first releases did not bring participants to popularity. They remained in the shadow of other teams of South Korea.
Only after the release of the third EP girls noticed. A bright clip on the BBOOM BBOOM song quickly gained views on YouTube, attracting new fans. The breakthrough was accompanied by a scandal. The participants of the Russian Trio Serebro declared the plagiarism of the Mi Mi Mi track, but Momoland representatives managed to prove the opposite.
The girls were awarded the Genie Music Awards award for the best dance track, became the opening of the year in Met Asian, winning the rank of Idol and Artists of the 2018 according to Korean critics.
Soon the group spoke with concerts in Japan. For 4 days they managed to assemble 25 thousand spectators at the event. During the speeches, the singer was performed by Singles, which made them popular. They signed a contract with the King Records label on the release of the next plate and the BBOOM BBOOM record in Japanese.
A separate clip has created a song. The girls released a documentary about the set, which took place in Saipan. They walk on the video and share the impressions of Finding Momoland, thanks to which the team has been formed.
In the spring of 2019, TEGA and Daisi had to abandon the speeches due to health problems. Representatives of the agency promised that they would return to the team during the release of the new record.
The team cooperates with the MLD Entertainment Agency, the work of the participants is sometimes referred to the name MMLD.
Momoland now
In the 2020th group consists of 6 participants: Hyubin, Jane, Nyun, Jiu, Ain and Nancy: In November 2019, Yong and Tachu left the team. These are pseudonyms of the singers, the real names of which only devotees know.
The girls won the title of artists of the year according to The FACT, entered the top 3 new Asian performers at Japan Gold Disc Award and won the Gaon Chart Music Awards Award.
At the beginning of autumn, the discography of the performers was replenished with a debut Japanese album called Chiri Chiri. The new compositions I'm SO Hot and Pinky Love were used as singles. Shortly thereafter, they announced that the funds accepted during the concert in October would go to the help of the needy Filipino children.
Now the singers continue to delight fans with performances and appearances in public. Their page in "Instagram" is filled with bright photos illuminating the life of girls outside the scene.
