Biography

Apocalyptica Finnish group is not just a team, and a full-fledged music brand, famous thanks to the Kavever on Metallica. Critics argued for a long time, to which genre of music attributes creativity Apocalyptica, said that, although rockers play on classical instruments, they are not followers of symphonic rock due to the camera. Musicians came up with the direction specifically for themselves - Cello-Metal, which literally means "Metal, performed on cello." Apocalyptica has become not only the progenitor, but also the most vivid representatives of this genre.

The history of creation and composition

At the beginning of the way, Apocalyptica included 4 cellists: Eykka Toppinen, Max Lylah, Paavo Lötienne and Antero Manninen. The guys studied together in the main musical university of Finland - the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and were often met in summer camps for instrumentalists.

During the next trip to the camp in 1993, friends decided to play at one of the evening concerts "something special." Each of the quartet loved "heavy" music, especially the Metallica group. It is their creativity in string processing, cello shared with "young musicians with classical education". Max Lylah recalls that "then we have fun to fame, moreover, even had a certain success!".

Metallica's hits were so harmoniously on the strings that the guys decided to seriously engage in creating crashes. Their first works heard only in the walls of the Academy. At one of the rehearsals, the name of the quartet was born - Apocalyptica. It is formed as a result of the addition of the word "apocalypse" with the name of the favorite group. Only after the acquisition of the name, the musicians decided to reach a real stage. In 1995, they became regulars of the Rock Clubs Helsinki.

At one of the speeches, Apocalyptica noted the producer of the local record company Zen Garden Record. He appreciated the new Metallica sound and suggested cellulars to release an album with cameras. At first they refused - they counted that no one would listen to the familiar tracks, but the producer insisted. So in 1996, a debut album was born with the simple name "Plays Metallic by Four Cellos" (from English. "Play Metallica on four cello).

Music

Only Metallica compositions in cellular arrangements were expected to the playlist "Plays Metallic by Four Cellos". These were "cream", collected from the whole at that time released discography of rockers: "ENTER SANDMAN", "MASTER OF PUPPETS", "THE UNFORGIVEN", 8 hits. In reprinting 2016, Apocalyptica added Bonus tracks: "Battery", "Seek and Destroy" and "Nothing Else Matters".

250 thousand copies of the album scattered in a couple of months. It forced Apocalyptica to think about the seriousness of his business. Under the easy pressure of Mercury Records, the guys took up the record of the second album "Inquisition Symphony" (1998).

The track list "Inquisition Symphony" included 11 songs: Caverits on Metallica, Faith No More, Pantera and Sepultura, as well as three copyright songs created by Apocalyptica Eykki Toppinen leader. Another innovation of the album was added to some percussion compositions - before the quartet participants created music solely with cello. The move turned out to be winning, because Inquisition Symphony came to the top 10 national music rating.

In support of the album, the cellos removed the clips on the author's song "Harmageddon" and "Nothing Else Matters" Metallica. The rollers did not carry the semantic load, preferably demonstrated the skills of the quartet game. Promotes to promotion and 2-year tours in Greece, Poland, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Mexico, for whom yesterday's students abandoned their studies and work. Each concert was collected at least 2 thousand people, which is significantly for a modest Finnish team.

In 1999, Antero Manninen left the group, instead he came Perth Kiwilakso, who spoke with Apocalyptica before those became famous.
